Are maseratis any good?

The GranTurismo is a very nice car. I've spent a few hours driving a 2013 with the ZF slushbox. If it had a manual transmission option I'd consider buying one. Body work is simply gorgeous. Engine note is heavenly. Driving dynamics don't compare to it's competition, but most Italian car purchases aren't objectively reasonable.

I like the symbol. It's badass but none of their cars are appealing. They tried to push the idea of a v6 grand touring car for over a decade before finally Ferrari told them to fucking stop. Ferrari helped them out but Ferrari makes sure anything they get their hands on doesn't outperform Ferraris. So the best you'll ever get from Maserati is a gimped Ferrari powertrain, Ferrari tier maintenance requirements, Grand Touring price with no reputation to back it up.

Old MR2s aren't expensive, are fun and are quite reliable as well. Maseratis are largely none of those things. They're also pretty ugly
