Wastegate got stuck when reaching max boost, making the engine go in some safety mode where almost all power is lost (topspeed ~100km/h). Apparently a lot of turbocharged VAG engines are affected by this, some after 5k miles, some after 50k miles. Was repaired for free, since then no problems. Also no problems reported by previous owner.
