Never said it wasn't. But it was that very idea that led to the creation of the SHO V6. The SHO V6 was originally just going to be a Vulcan with DOHC heads. Yamaha threw a fit and designed a new engine from scratch in protest.
Stupid or not, it's an interesting idea and power output was extremely impressive for the time. You have to remember, unless you got a 350 V8, that LQ1 V6 was one of the most powerful engines GM made.
Anyways the original point is that the LQ1 and LA1 share a block, crankshaft, and connecting rods, and nothing else.

unrelated engine. The 3.6L Holden uses is a 60* V6 designed by Cadillac in 2004. It's part of the High Feature V6 engine family. The 3800, or Ecotec V6 as you knew it was a Buick V6 dating back to 1962 with a 90* V angle due to being a cut down V8.
