If you wanna do sik doughnuts then yes

what is this redpill nonsense? speak like an adult man

LSD is just superior to open diff

This is what happens when shills take a crash course on "fitting in on Veeky Forums" for their shilling job.

If you drive aggressively (break traction every time you drive alone), then yes, you would really benefit from an LSD.

When picking my Miata, the Torsen LSD was my #1 deciding factor; dorifto, dorifto everywhere.

>Are they really needed on cars with sub 300hp
Absolutely

If there are conditions where you can apply enough torque to overwhelm the grip of the most unladen drive tire, an LSD will help things.

Do you think an AW11 or a Miata would need one of these things for just basic grip in like autocross or track?

Yes it improves handling overall even in sub 300 hp cars.

Even ~200 hp cars can easily break traction on an open diff, upsetting handling in the corners.

Could I easily put an LSD in my new car? Its an option but only with overpriced packages

those things are like double digit horsepower, right?
just fit some half decent rubber

P.S. My miata likely has 90-100hp; only mod is catalytic converter removal. Because of the LSD I can do donuts in one spot (see: video below @ 6 minutes).

>redpill
>Explain the hidden truth behind something

I prefer short sentences.

It can be useful when going into corners where you'd normally lose traction but unless you're doing HEKTIK SKIDZ a decent set of tyres will do the trick.

>break traction every time you drive alone

w-what? my LSD helps my car from breaking traction

>LS1 V8

its just better to drive with period. so much traction/grip

It's a reference to The Matrix films, my dude.

Yes it fucking easy m8.
Also
LSDs fucking suck for anything short of burning out. They aren't as amazing as they are made out to be. They provide very very partial lock in the diff. So both tires get torque, but its more of like a 80/20 maybe even less. So one tire still gets more power than the other. So their only real application is hooning nothing much else.

That's really no excuse

>80/20
>NOT advantage through a corner

kek 'm8'

they're preferable for drifting

my car is a LS1 v8 with lsd rear and its like a stock drift car

we've discussed this shit a million times

locking the wheels together isn't about apportioning torque equally

why doesn't anyone on this board know the first fucking thing about cars

yes i'm mad

I never said they don't have an application, i just said is only real application is hoon driving. Although drifting is fun. It doesn't have any actual real world application.
Wtf is it for then you autist

>drifting
Stop being gooks.

pig disgusting amerifat pls go

I like Japanese cars I just don't like the slowest way to take a corner.

>lsds suck
Have fun in your open diff na miata, retarded cuckold

I bet you drive slow as fuck anyway

To add, the other artist is referring to a spool that splits torque equally to both rear wheels is bad in turns because the optimal torque split for the rear wheels is relative to the turning radius.

>w-what? my LSD helps my car from breaking traction

Hence why you want to have an LSD. And when you do break traction with one it is much easier to control.

This. Also makes commuting in snow doable and fun as hell.

Goalposts ect.

No I am not you cunt, fuck off.

>current year
>people hate fun

goal posts are exactly where you put them m8.
you hate drifting because you're shit at it.
look inside your heart, you'll know it to be true.

> Implying
I'll actually be pretty content with my automatic Eaton MLocker

>explains they dont like a certain style of driving because of x
>HURR DUERR UR SHIT AT IT
As expected of Veeky Forums

automatic

>implying youve had any experience with drifting outside of doing burnouts in the parking lot of wendys
top kek

I actually think drifitng is fun as fuck. I just got tired of endangering others, and wearing out my tires, steering components, suspension components, and Drivetrain prematurely. It's called growing up kid, you should try it sometime.
Yeah the diff locker is automatic, the truck is a 5speed manual. What are you getting at?

>drives an auto
>tells others to grow up

Nigga can't you read? I drive a manual, wtf is this shit? All my trucks are manual. Even if they were auto. Wtf would that matter, you said i ran open diffs, I'm saying i run automatic lockers, are you retarded?

but he's implying there's no benefit to having an LSD if you're not 'hooning'

there's the advantage of better traction at any time

hence why my sportscar is better in the rain and snow than my open diff 2wd truck

"he" was me.

And if you are not breaking traction ever with an open diff you will never see any benefit from a limited-slip.

Are LSD's necessary for FWD? Seems kinda pointless.

Yes, they help the car get going from a stop better in low-traction conditions.

Depends.
Got even length drive shafts?
>yes
Maybe not.
>No
Maybe yes

Got enough power to spin the tires?
>yes
Maybe yes.
>No
No

Maybe
Maybe not
I guess we'll never know

How many licks of LSD do you need to spin both tires?

Really, depends on the transaxle, if it's equal length shafts, you'll have less torque steer, but still only spinning one tire. Get an LSD if you make enough power to spin a tire.

Unequal shafts? Torque Steer? LSD should help with the torque steer, IF you make enough power for it to be a problem.

I'm pretty sure you're talking to Corey.

Fuck.

Even on high-power FWD cars, you'll need an LSD to (pedal to the metal) accelerate from a stop.

Ex. MS3 has a geared LSD in the front

here's your (you) you piece of shit

3/10

Yes if you have a truck with not a lot of weight in the rear and live in snowy climates.

They have practical uses.

> Takes all his information from what he hears not what hes experienced.
Lockers destroy LSDs everytime, stay mad faggot.

Too bad no one gives a rats fuck about offroad shit
We are boy racers here

Lockers are still better for drifting stay mad faggot.

I found the guy who never added an extra clutch pack to a 8.8".

let's not pretend any of us are adults here my dude

> Adding a clutch pack
> Not just replacing entire fucking diff
What a pussy ass bitch

>Subaru outback
>rear lsd difs
Great for snow or inclines. Basic trim has open rear difs.

Will make the car pull you out of corners instead of spin the outside wheel. Good upgrade for fwd.

Implying any of us own cars.

do you mean "pack" or "plate"
pls resbond

DO NOT TAKE THE RED PILL LSD
IF YOU HAVE TAKEN THE RED PILL LSD GO TO THE MEDICAL TENT IMMEDIATELY

Yes, especially if FWD. It will limit the gay torquesteer and bullshit.

Quaife for the win. Loved having front and rear Quaifes on my Subaru..

LSDs do more than just lock both wheels, they change the amount of torque applied to the left/right wheel depending on acceleration and cornering. They're not locked 100% of the time like a spool and they give a real performance benefit even to grip cars.

They are great for any fwd that has power to spin the tires. Helps with understeer in some cornering conditions. Helps with torque steer during takeoff.

considering I spin the wheels with an lad and only 240hp id say yes they're needed
