>What is a "Hot Hatch"?
A Hot Hatch is a manufacturer produced, performance oriented variant of a standard hatchback, designed for improved handling, increased top speed, acceleration and generally enhance the driving experience.

>Are all Hot Hatches FWD?
No. Whilst most Hot Hatches are FWD, some are AWD or even RWD.

>Isn't FWD shit?
No. Just because you can't get the arse out by stamping on the accelerator doesn't mean you can't have fun.

>Aren't Hot Hatches just for Europoors?
No; with the launch of the Fiesta and Focus ST in the US, it seems like the Hot Hatch is beginning to take off on the other side of the Atlantic, but Europoors definitely have more choice.

>Is the Fiesta ST actually good?
The Fiesta ST is one of the best small hot hatches on offer at the minute; so yeah they're pretty good.

Nah....why you don't put some pictures of real hot hatched instead of a bunch of new shit?

I will volunteer a picture for the sole purpose of showing some of the cool new pics i took

I just quickly googled hot hatches and got this pic. Next time onwards, I'll post OC pics from the posters in this thread.

recently got this beauty.
2011 37k miles, 6spd $10k.
first mods? got an intake on the way.

Come on guys, econo hatches are different from hot hatches. Hot hatches are tuned from factory for performance, not a-to-b tools. Abarth 500, Cooper S, and performance models are considered hot hatches, but non-ST focus/fiestas and non-mazdaspeed Mazda 3's arent.

Pic related, my 08 MS3. 1st gen is best gen, anons.

Why is first gen best gen? I think that second gen is best gen. Aside from the weight gain, of course.

Oh man, an intake huh?

Thanks for letting us know you have about as much sense in modding your car as the average vatozone employee rofl

lower beltline, thinner pillars, ect. More or less the aesthetics arent ruined by 2010-2016 safety and pedestrian standards

Plus the evil crazy smile thing. Gen 1 is just agressive

Sooooo ...aesthetics?

Hmm, seems subjective

If you want 100 lbs less, sleeper, and more windows, gen 1 is good for you.

If you want newer styling, and a hood scoop, gen 2.

Regardless, both have the same exact MZR engine and suspension.

Sell it for something good

>shit composition
>raped sliders in lightroom
2/10

>two golfs in OP image
>no Punto
who the guck made this bullcrap image

whats wrong with an intake? Gives me more enjoyment driving it.
like what?

picture was taking at night with a special lens on a parking lot to test my buddies new 6k camera. I'm pretty happy with the results considering it was dark outside. I will never understand why people dump 6k on a camera tho

It wasn't complete night but the sun was already behind the hill, don't know how to phase it in english.

Dusk/Evening I think is the time you're looking for.

What do you think of the c30? Im not big on hatches but theres something about it I like, tempted to go look at a 2010 R Design

It's pretty good, just doesn't turn very well if I recall. And torque steer. Sweet motor though.

Sorry to disappoint you.

who here is about the yaris lifestyle?

Focus ST or Mazda 3 S Grand Touring?

ST is 70 HP more but the GT is far superior in the interior

Do I care about a turbocharger?

Not as practical as you'd expect a hatchback to be.
Torque steer.
Massive turning circle.
Slower than you'd expect it to be, 5 cylinders and a turbo and all.

Looks great and sounds even better though, and as far as I recall there's no major reliability issues or anything. They're well made cars.

why would you compare the ST to a mazda 3. the focus titanium the direct competitor to the GT.

i have a golf 2.5...should i even bother ricing this thing or hold out for a different car?

I used to own an 08 GTI and am itching to have it back honestly

Just enjoy the 5 cylinder sound for now and save up for something hotter.

>Titanium
>doesn't come in manual

no thank you

between the two, I would pay the extra for the ST just for the engine

>be driving along in my fiesta ST
>modded wrx is behind me, stereotypical bro with flat brimmed hat is driving
>come to a stoplight
>he takes out his phone and takes a picture of my car's ass (how lewd)
>after light he pulls beside me and revs his engine
>I ignore him because it's literally a 30 mph street in the city with lots of traffic
>he speeds away, probably went to the vape store for more vape packs

anyone else occasionally get things like this?

I ordered a tune, air intake, induction hose, charge pipe, cat-back, rear motor mount, short shifter, and pedal spacer for my FiST. And now my chequing account is near empty.

Did I do good?

Best sounding exhaust for mk6 gti?

if you already had an intercooler then it's okay. The air intake will make no difference aside from sound The cat-back will also make no difference aside from sound. The charge pipe will make absolutely zero difference.

The RMM, short shifter, and pedal spacer will make driving much more fun. The RMM will reduce wheel hop by a large margin under heavy 1-2-3 gear accelerations.

if you didn't have an intercooler you should have gotten that instead of the intake or catback, though.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I got an intercooler. I knew something was missing.

Yeah, I get that shit all the time.

88 Scirocco

>your adventures with it
Last big trip in the 'rocco was to European Experience (SOWO) in Savannah, GA

>your problems with it
The only problem with it is a bad motor mount which is causing some annoying vibrations inside the car

>what have you fixed recently?
Recently installed new cv axles, front wheel bearings, strut mounts, ball joints, and tie rod ends

>what upgrades do you plan in it?
Planning to install TT headers and SS exhaust when I get around to it

Just bought an 03 Focus SVT today, first mods/ replacements?

Good work bro, are you going to wrench it on yourself or have it installed? And what tune did you go with?

Good advice.

Quite a few Fiesta's on Veeky Forums now, everyone should post a picture.

yeah I drive a focus st with a commute of 40 miles one way. errday a wrx/gti/mustang etc trys to engage in something. Pretty much the only time I'm accelerating hard is onto the highway ramp

I pretty much ignore them, but will wave at fellow ST drivers.

I drive a FiST and I saw my first FiST on the road today and we waved to each other. I see tons of FoSTs, and don't wave at them though.

Do you think it's rude if a FiST doesn't wave back at you?

I need to take better pictures. I haven't had a good drive with it in a while to take a photo. There's a ST/RS group in my city that is planning to take a drive together in September, if I go I'm sure I'll take a few pics to post.

Getting the intercooler, cat-back, intake, and short shifter dealer installed because muh warranty. The rest I'm going to do myself.

Have an 06 Fiesta ST. Kind of regret it, nothing but constant expensive electrical faults.

>Do you think it's rude if a FiST doesn't wave back at you?
No I don't really care if they wave back or not. I've had people wave at me and I barely noticed

Kinda reminds me of that Dbt comic waving at cruisers
>what's the matter can't take your hands off the wheel

>buy base model focus
>swap a 3.5L ecobeast with manual

why shouldn't I do this?

What is it about these seats that make them so damn good?

fucking magic

i like even the base cloth FoST seats. FiST cloth suck

your wallet.

Checked.

Also, they are just so fucking comfy and supportive, I can drive hours in them without any issue.

...

Is my scion tc a hot hatch?

No, but it's all like KAAKOW!

youtube.com/watch?v=0fvOg13V5mI

Hopefully someone can chime in, the best cloth seats I've sat in that were comfy and supportive was in the new GTI. Are these just as good?

The pic related in the post you quoted is partial-leather Recaro seats from the Fiesta ST, and they're the best seats you can buy in a car under $40k bar none.

The fuck did I just watch.

GTI's cloth (and leather) seats are garbage in comparison

Just bought a 2014 FiST. Salesman even bought me ice cream

he was actually your dad user

Congrats user, what color?

that means you paid too much

Black, 2014 wtth 16k miles
He should have bought me the car with all the child support he owes me then
15k was not awful. Who gives a shit, ice cream was awesome

old sciroccos are gorgeous. I love it man.

Nice work user.

fucking love frisky dingo

I wanted to be about the yaris lifestyle but I just wanted more power
I have the leather I don't like them, I wanted the cloth bc at least then I would have the cool tartan pattern. I do like that the leather seats sort of emulate a bucket with side supports but the seats must be designed for fat ass americans bc I can't get a snug fit in it.

bump

Love those wheels, are they safe though?

the recaro seats won't it fat americans, they're perfect for me at around 5'11, 155 lbs though

Thanks. I've had these wheels (avid.1 av17) on the car for about 2 years now with zero issues, what makes you think they're unsafe?

>Puntitinthetrash-o
>hot hatch

I drive a Civic Type R and honestly it's worse with the fucking reps in their poverty spec 318d/A4 1.4 TFSI/C200d sitting up my arse because they expect me to drive like a twat as I have a not-slow motor that has red badges and red Rs on the skirts.

haha epic :-)

>mad Puntofag
Did it start when you realised the only thing Grande about the Punto was the list of shit you had to fix?

Any wheel reccomendations for the FiST? I'll be buying winter tires/wheels in about 1.5 months, and planning to get 16's.

Been looking at tire rack and most of the sparcos look pretty good but it's always hard to tell without real pics of them on the car

The Assetto Gara is pretty much the aftermarket wheel of choice on this car, the bolt pattern is really limited. Sparco's have been good quality though, I haven't heard of any issues (I've been running mine for ~12k miles).

is there any benefit of having steelies in the winter over alloys? Where I live they use magnesium chloride instead of salt, if that matters

Is my 40HP Peugeot 106 considered hot hatch?

my grocery-getter.

Only because it overheats :^)

I fell for the hot hatch meme

Hot hatch feels:

>back off accelerator
>exhaust pops and crackles

I'm spending so much on fuel just so I can keep hearing it

>two Golfs
Pls replace one with a pro ceed gt

>golf
cuck

>be sanic on the toe gay
>turn a sharp corner
>understeer
>lift off the throttle
>car suddenly turns like a mad cunt
It's like turbo lag but for cornering. Shit's so fun.

:^)

>why shouldn't I do this?
Because pic related. :)

Straight

My 2.slow, no performance mods really. Just got new tires a couple weeks ago, just got a new thermostat. Maintenance shit. What mods should i do that would be worth it to do on a 2.0

I actually laughed a bit, I give you that.

truu
> mfw not a hot hatch just made holes into my exhaust
what car
SOOPA CHARGEUUH

Haha, you in a Fiesta? Is that the brake torque vectoring working for you?

>FSwerks shit plate is still out of stock
>Asked them when they expect more about 4 weeks ago and was told 2 weeks
>reeeeeeeeee

I want the FSwerks for the 25% reduction over the boomba 20% and don't want to pay double for the mountune price. Should I just keep waiting?

The only things that can really be done that do anything to a 2.0 would be forced induction, or a 16v head swap from a B3/4 Passat or Scirocco.

No photos but I have a 1985 Civic CRX Si to tool around town in (pnr) and an extra for parts.

$10k? how in the hell...

you are a complete retard if you're actually debating this. Don't understand why everyone has a hard-on for Mazda's shitty iPad on the dashboard. But who gives a shit about the interior anyway

I test drove the mazda3 after fiesta st and it just feels so fat and slow. Really not a joy to drive. Mazda needs an engine refresh or new MS3 with turbo on these.

>things that never happened
>this whole thread is full of hate for a car people have never driven (mazda3)
Wew lad. Bunch bench racing faggots up in this thread.

How important is an oil catch can for increasing longevity? Heard Ecoboost engines are bad for buildup.

mazda 3's are nothing special, hate to break it to you

>has never driven but will claim he has.
There is a HUGE following for mazda 3s. Not to mention speed3s. Bone stock they are super fun to drive.
Mine has 160k miles on it and is super fun to drive still.
I test drove a focus ST at autoX and it was so numb and disconnected compared to the 3 that i wanted to crash it just feel something. Not to mention reliability and and all that other DD type stuff that the 3 dominates in.
Stop talking about things you dont know about.
The original is always the best. The focus (mazda clone) will always be shit

have you driven a new mazda 3? It's just as boring as every other econobox out there. I've never driven a mazdaspeed3 but that is a completely different car.

Please stop being such a fanboy

>M-Mazda 3 is not slow
>Post pics of modded mazda

>have you driven a new mazda 3
Yes and obviously you havent.
At least go read a review before you spew shit from your cock holster.
They are praised as the most fun, most connected to the road, and best handling entry level cars you can get.
And test driving one confirmed this for me. Felt better than my 1st gen.
