Anything applies. Muscle, land barge, trucks, European, Japanese. If its older than 25 years post about it here, >my shitbox Mazda is 25 years old! Go away.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction to look if I can swap a 4L60E on a 78' Firebird? Still not sure if I want to drop the TH400 on it, but I thought I'd try and find some who had changed theirs out for something with an overdrive.
Jacob Phillips
Would, but "Our system thinks your post is spam. Please reformat and try again" so I guess the janitor would rather fuck with people instead.

I get that too sometimes, I don't know exactly what triggers it.

So I'm wanting to do a classic, more than likely gonna be a Chevy or ford. Can anyone tell me expected mpgs with the following set ups?
350+th350+2.79 302+c4+2.80 351w+c4+2.79
Gonna be 60s el Camino/late 60s mustang/early 70s Monte Carlo.
Jose Baker
351w in a Monte Carlo?
Michael Butler
No, 302 and 351 in mustangs, 350 in the monte and el. If I'm lucky that is... All I can find are big blocks in montes.
Kayden Taylor
Or possibly a 318 with either the dodge 4 on the floor in a 66 charger.

How radical are you going to build the motor? If just stock with a 4bbl you're probably going to be looking at 15-18 mpg highway with the 302 in a moostang and less so with the 351w. You won't really be impressed with the rear end ratio tho.
My 63 fairlane with a 289 and BW T10 and 2.78 gears makes about 14ish but I drive like an ass hole. If I just do city driving it's below 10. I hate the rear end ratio tho because it doesn't have much acceleration.
Idk about chebbys.

I'm just looking for a good dad cruiser. If I can keep 70mph on the highway with 16+mpg, I'll be happy. The only thing I'd "build" on it are stopping abilities, a mean ass exhaust, and maybe some cosmetics. Don't really care about performance.
This is all coming from a 2004 v6 Silverado that barely does 75 and gets 13mpg if I'm lucky.
Only asking about c4 because that's what's available. I've got a budget of like 20k, so dropping a new trans in is out of the question for a while.

Well 70 is real tricky to get good fuel economy. I'm usually at about 2800 RPM at 70 mph.
If you keep the carb under 600 or at 600 cfm and put on headers you'll probably do what you want.

Fuck yeah, land barge!
