>best built american cars
That sure is a knock off of an awd protege

>dashing through the snow in an aerodynamic shape
>aerodynamic shape

were physics different in the 80s?

...

...

...

Fun trivia, when the Tempo/Topaz came out in 84, they had the lowest coefficient of drag of any mass produced american car (which isn't saying much)

Thats because mazda designed it

The Tempo and Topaz were all Ford. They don't share a single part with any Mazda.

an AWD a-body

I'd say Mercedes, because they are heavy and I could scrap them for money. Too bad they're all mostly rust at this point.

The best or nothing.

I have such a soft spot for A-bodies in general. i remember the one weekend I got to drive my aunt's old 1990 Celebrity wagon. I had so much fun in that thing. That 3 speed automatic, while archaic, was bulletproof and gave the car this relaxed 'IDGAF' attitude I have never encountered before or since.

Dont be stupid.
There was a model with a mazda diesel.

>one engine makes it all Mazda.

No, they really didn't.

>you will never own an AWD Tempo/Topaz
>you will never own a diesel Tempo/Topaz
>you will never own a 3.0/5sp GLS/XR5/LTS Tempo/Topaz

why even live

Also GOAT

>No, they really didn't
>posts pic of mazda diesel in a car that looks just like the 323 and 626 of the time
Ok then

>In 1992, the entire line of Tempo and Topaz models received a slight freshening. All Tempo and Topaz models received new grilles (body color on the Tempo, non-functional lightbar on the Topaz), body color bumpers and trim, and revised taillights (Tempo 4-door only). The biggest news for 1992 was found under the hood. As an option on some models, and standard on others, was a new V6 engine. This engine was known as the "Vulcan" V6. It was taken from the Probe, Taurus, and Ranger lines; displaced 3.0 liters and produced 130HP in the Tempo and Topaz.

1992 became the highwater mark for the Tempo and Topaz, especially with the GLS / XR5 / LTS models. These have become the most sought after in the entire history of the Tempo and Topaz. In comparison to previous year GLS / XR5 / LTS, the 1992 year model was the only one to have these features:

V6 Engine
MTX-IV 5-speed manual transaxle
Thicker front anti-roll bar
Rear anti-roll bar
Integrated ground effects package
standard fog lights
15" 8-spoke wheels and 185/65R15 Firestone Firehawk GTA tires

I had a ford tempo as my first car. It had some garbage 40$ tires on it and I made it through 2 harsh winters without every getting stuck. Had a rash of other stupid problems along the way though. Would never recommend anyone ever get one.

I believe mine was a 1992 gls. Bought it for 600$ off a mechanic. It didn't have a drivers side seat belt latch so I had to tie my seatbelt to a passengers seatbelt if I ever had one. Later in the cars life the interior fan broke, the key broke off inside the ignition, the dash lights stopped working and the wheels were damn near bald. Gave it away as scrap. Wish I would have entered it into a demolition derby instead.

My first car was a 2 door Tempo. Paid $200 and beat the ever living piss out of it. I'll never forget it.

would daily

I'm sure Mazda put a lot of time and effort into designing an aerodynamic engine

My old man had a 94 tempo, wanted that shitbox for my first car but he sold it before i got my liscense.

not even a shitbox, you can find these under 1k pounds easily, everybody hates them for no reason though

I had a 92 topaz as my first car.
It was boring, but the ac was fucking amazing.
Awd would have been nice though...

Why? From everything I've heard these were terrible in about every way possible.

its a rover m8, do you need more of a reason
these are the people that thought headbolts should also hold the crank in

You probably think a countach is aerodynamic lul

There's a beautiful little Nissan Stanza T12 model at the local grocery store all the time that has been very well taken care of. Looks just like this one

tfw no old turbo volvo to tune

feelsbadman

Offer to buy it

I have money enugh for something better but I can not let this car go. I really love this qt.

ex-gf had one. i was surprised by that car. they're built better than Chevy Cobalts. And I had a blast driving hers. It's responsive and nimble, which kind of makes sense since the chassis comes from a 1989 Opel Kadett. and the engine comes from Opel. The 1.6L E-Tec engine is heavily related to Opel's 2.0L. As such, the 2.0L variant from the Suzuki forenza and Reno drops right in, bolts up to the Aveo transmission, and even runs off the same wiring harness and computer.. If you know how to get Opel performance parts shipped stateside, you could make a really surprising hot hatch out of one. Pic related. Aveo with a 2.0L swap.

Now how about the '13 Spark
It'd be stupid to get rid of mine and I can't get enough of how I've had shoes with higher operating costs, but HOLY FUCK IT IS THE MOST GUTLESS CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. If I can do ANYTHING about the 1.2L I'd like to hear it.

The Spark was all Daewoo. Not based on anything Opel. I never liked the Spark. The Aveo's replacement was the Sonic, not the Spark.

A street in the sheets and a freak on the streets

"thru"
Such degenerate appeal.

muh dick, even though they were all auto

s10 blazer

Honestly thinking of finding one for a 4x4 project now that i have a garage.

Rip my old one you were to good for this world

meh. You can convert them. Every single engine they had was available with a manual in some other car, the most popular being the Chevy Cavalier. Like the 2.8L/3.1L V6. Use the transmission and shifter from a 1988-1994 Chevy Cavalier Z24.

Toyota Echo (Platz)
Just seen as the cheap Toyota, the Japanese Sunfire, the 1.5 dual cam 16v is surprisingly lively.

My first car was a 2 door celebrity Eurosport. I LOVED that pile of shit!!

I'd do almost anything to own a clean 91 ford escort GT

The Tempo/Topaz had absolutely nothing to do with Mazda.

The Ford Escorts from Mazda are great though.

>car looks the same, that means it's related
Topaz/Tempo a shit, don't disgrace Mazda that way.

Bump to save from Alphonse.

This

...

I'm in love with a lot of shitboxes actually.
Hell I'd sell everything I have just to start collecting them.

It's slow, it's uncorfortable, it's overall shit.
It's perfect.

I can really see myself 3 wheeling this shit thru my european town listening to this

Those tail lights, tho.

Any old Subaru.

They're wonderful

I like those very much, actually.

I actually want one of these too.

D-Tec just kicked in yo.

my parents had a mercury topaz when i was a kid

i sort of learned to drive stick when i was about 9 and my dad drove it into a ditch while playing with the radio and had to push it out while i throttled it

I love the tail lights on the 2010-2013 Camaro, but I think the ones on the Malibu look weird and out of place.

I might be getting one today

Please, do it. Please. And don't hesitate to test out that lively suspension. That'll be 3 less samefag shitposts or 3 shills getting wiped out.

Just make a 90s boxy shitbox club
I dig this car style

the ae86 weabs can join in too

I am sitting in one right now waiting for a tow truck. This just fell out. Want to buy mine?

>gook quality

It's Chevy.

like I said, gook quality.
t; reply carefully

Gooks make quality

my first car, minus the awd. was an 89 gl I believe, got it for free from my uncle

Worst car I've ever owned/been in

It's daewoo

...

I had a 1988 Ford Tempo 4 door.

It was the stripper model too, because it used to be my dad's company car. He bought it cheap when he ended the company car program in the mid 90s.

98 hp
3 speed autotragic
crank windows
manual mirrors
am/fm radio only
the AC had all leaked out

it did stop and turn very well though. I drove it hard during high school in the late 90s. it was always easy to correct it when it started going sideways, or plowing in a turn.

>Want to buy mine?
depends. model year? transmission? does it have power windows? A/C? Cruise Control?

all options I want.

>this just fell out

Did it overheat?

It's the tension rod for the belt apparently.

unlikely. That's a broken tensioner for the serpentine belt. The water pump on those is driven by the timing belt. cheap fix.

>Vanilla Ices Car of the Tear 2017
>White Mustang GT
>not a convertible
You had one job.

who the fuck doesn't like those? i'd kill just to find one pop up on my classified. they fell off the earth even 2wd models.

South Korea is a pioneer in high quality products. Kias and Hyundais have ratings of "good" in IIHS crash tests across their entire lineups in the same tests that even brand new cars by Japanese and American automakers are struggling with, especially Ford and Toyota.

This.

If my Pontiac Sunbird hadn't gone to the breakers, this sounds capital.

quality doesn't equal reliability. Just ask any German car owner.

Reliability is a quality...

Reliability is a quality, but not quality overall.

Volkswagen Fox Sedan.

you should be doing mental gymnastics at the special olympics

>Pontiac Sunbird
want.

My dad bought a used Tempo back in the early 90s. It was reliable but boring. I always wished he'd bought pic related instead.

All these rebadged Daewoos.

You should be doing mental gymnastics at the special olympics.

>yfw some people on Veeky Forums are actual Daewoo fans
at least they don't go around starting memes (ecomeme) about how great their favorite cars are.

I wouldn't mind a SHO with a sable front end swap in the future

I've heard they're the same engine and transmission as a Crown vic/Mustang GT but FWD. That true?

only for the RWD V8 models. Otherwise, they were FWD I4 or V6 granny cars

My buddy had one a few years ago, but when he got tboned in a parking lot he had to sell her off because the SVX has next to no market for spare parts. Beautiful car, and Subie's Masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
