Hey Veeky Forums, what's the cheapest safe way I can carry 1-2 surfboards on my car? Don't care how ghetto it looks desu.
Racks are like $300-$500 and I don't have the money. I have a Mazda 3 hatchback.

Don't listen to these unhelpful cunts mate.
Ratchet straps
Carpet/rugs on roof, windows open, tie them to roof. Have something to secure front and back of them too.
In June I hauled two canoes using 2x4's with towels underneath them strapped to the roof and ratchet-strapped the canoes on top of those. Easy peasy.

FYI: Veeky Forums has reverse image search.
Bungee straps is the easiest. roll down the windows to hook em on the door or if it's raining connect a couple and go right down to the body panel. I drove 2 hours like this with 3 boards on top. Rope is better and cheaper, but we didn't have any at the time.
