1ST FOR GOJIRA

literally who and why is he tracking the slowest sportbike

i've ridden dirt bikes occasionally since i was little and ridden road bikes for 5 years and raced in amateur championships.

i now want to get into hard enduro but i'm not sure which bike is best. i am kind of a 2 stroke as i want something different to what i have normally ridden.

but only if it is suitable for hard enduro.

what do you think is the best dirt bike for somebody attempting hard enduro for the first time?

>slowest
>specs haven't even been released
>rumoured to compete with the s1000rr
>/dbt/ memes

historically the slowest then
>rumours
wow

have you been to a trackday? the mix of bikes is incredible.

suzuki trolling aint cool either,

>not even out
>"it's the slowest"

fuck I love /dbt/

>historically the slowest

>2001 gsx-r1000 had 20 hp more than it's closest competition
>2005 gsx-r1000 is still the lightest 1000cc I4 bike ever made at 198 KG wet (Lighter than a new R1M with it's carbon fiber bodywork)

/dbt/ continues delivering.

I have, I assumed he was a well known racer and was curious why he would be tracking a bike that's not the best for the track is he had a team behind him.

beta x Trainer

if straight lines and horsepower were the only things that mattered then everybody would be tracking turbo busas

lol k

kind of aiming for a jap bike as i want to work on it myself and not spend a ton on parts.

Yeah I sure bet the lightest literbike of all time probably handles crap, definitely wouldn't do anything like win world superbike in 2005 or anything like that.

But I mean that's WSBK? they're supermodified right? in a normal racing series they wouldn't be any good right?

yz250 is probably one of the best 2 strokes on the market for enduro. Has lots of power and is pretty light. Sucks if you're under like 5'10 though because the seat is pretty high.

>[intense uncontrollable headbanging]

If you really want to compare bikes, you should be using the superstock championship.

i'm 6'1 so it will be fine.

is the 250 better than 125 for enduro?

depends on the terrain tbqh. If there's a few hills I'd go for the 250 but if it's just going over logs and rocks may as well shed some weight and use the 125.

and?
you can't work on European bikes or what? do your hands fall off if you touch it?

sure why not.

>01 and 05 gsx-r1000 the best of their class

sweet, it's just like I said.

see?

>b-but reddit said the gsx-r was le gay squid bike!

price and reliability.

not going to spend extra just because it's italian.

>last win was 10 years ago
truly amazing

>historically the slowest
>gets proven incorrect

a bloo bloo bloo

price of ducati, bmw compared to the suzuki
see why they're popular?

>history can only be 10 years ago or more
nah m8, history is literally anything in the past.

>need special tools to do basically anything

For example:

>On BMW and Ducati, need a special tool to clear the codes from the dash whining at you to change the oil if you do it yourself
>If you own a ducati, need a harmonic cam belt meter in order to adjust the valves
>good luck getting any parts for an aprilia bike in a reasonable time frame
>MV agusta use a sprag clutch (not even a slipper) that detonates within months of ownership (google "MV sprag clutch"

nahhhh

I have an Aprilia, there's a dealership 20 minutes from me that has every part that I've needed in stock and they're cheaper than my Yamaha.

where do you live and what parts?

>better products cost more
no surprises there

Western Canada. Haven't needed much. The universal stuff like sprockets, chains, sparkplugs, etc. I order online.

Needed an alternator plug bolt and stator with some gaskets. A few odd bolts and nuts here and there. Ot's always been super easy to work on, everything is a few bolts away to access and it's been pretty reliable. I hear the newer ones have some funky electronics that can go wrong but mine is before all the ABS and traction control and stuff so no problems there.

That's the point of a new gen retard. If it's shit, I'll bash it too. But it literally hasn't been released yet. All manufacturers are guilty of making shitty products and all have made great products. We shall see. If it's good though, I'm buying one.

>all have made great products
name a single good hyosung product
pro tip, you can't

better product how?

only guy who could win on a ducati was casey stoner. and that was a v4 not a v twin like production ducatis. even wsbk give a 300cc bias towards ducati becauses v twins suck for racing.

That's motogp, you can't buy a motogp bike and Yamaha probably has the most expensive ones there anyways.

Fuck off. You know I didn't mean hyosung.

liveleak.com/view?i=d7a_1472694614

The price and reliability concerns I can understand (as BMW parts are fairly expensive if bought new)

But

>need special tools to do basically anything

You haven't worked on bikes much, have you?

Take a Honda service manual, they tell you all the time to "use Honda tool ABC123 to remove the headstock bearing race" and said tool costs like 120€ or some ridiculous shit. And then you just make do with a dremel, some punches and a hammer anyway.

I mean I felt like I gave some pretty clear examples, if you do an oil change on an S1000RR the only way to stop the dash whining at you is to use BMWs own proprietary software (GT1).

If you want to do the cam belts on a ducati you need a harmonic cam belt timer.

>dissing Aprilia
There's an entire who treats me like a prince because i'm one of two guys with an aprilia

I can strip my shivvy down to the crank with a socket wrench, a t50 torx and 6mm Allen key

There's 3 of us on dbt isn't there?

Used to be many more
Some guys with v4 tuonos that i guess died, the 16yo rs50, the 16yo rs125, shivlet and two tuono v2s

>v4 tuonos that i guess died
seems likely

Do I buy a 2006 sv1000, a brand new gsxr750 (or 650) for 2.5x the price or wait for something else to pop up? I sold my bike a week ago with plans of buying something new in the coming months but I'm already having withdrawals.

I owned a 1200 bandit, hoping for something lighter and maybe smaller engine, I went straight from 250cc bikes to 1000 and feel like I missed out on the 650 fun but I'm worried I'll get bored

2011 + gsx-r750 is an amazing, amazing bike.

Just get one.

There's not a huge difference in weight between 600 and 1000cc sportbikes. It's like 20 pounds wet.

I'd go for the different engine...

I hate this. My friend didn't want to buy my 750 that I was giving him for an extremely good deal because reddit told him it's for squids.

You gave 2 examples and went full on "hurr durr specialist tools 4 everything" to maintain your own opinion. Each bike has it's idiosyncrasies user.

I had a japanese naked that required me to remove the rear seat, front seat (2 bolts), fuel tank (2 bolts + 4 hoses + 2 power cables) to get to the battery cover, which was horribly placed almost under the top yoke. It was a time expensive and unpleasant process.

To get to the battery on my F800 I have only to remove one single piece seat and a single cover on the top of the airbox. Bam, battery in view.

I could also do a valve adjustment with only a 5€ Torx set and one socket to move the crank if I wanted to, although it wouldn't be the best idea.

The service reminder is annoying, but I can ignore it indefinitely. The dash on my previous jap bike lost the last digit on the odo, but I also ignored it.

European bikes can have their deficiencies, but having worked on both you're really rustling my jimmies spouting generalist nonsense to maintain your Internet based view of motorcycles.

Go earn your opinions user.

On my japanese motorcycle, I had to remove the entire front end fairings and windshield to put on the side mirror. Took about 1.5 hours for a job that should have taken like 10 minutes.

Do you ever carry passengers /dbt/?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=xKzHgaa6flQ

My mom and friend on my old bike. Current bike doesn't have a seat.

Do we appreciate flat ground scencs?

My sister a couple of times

>pushbike
You seem to be lost
This is for people who have an engine

>tfw no pretty see thru engine

I put a 70cc engine onto my bicycle ages ago. That was how I decided I want more

But I have

Forks fall off

Why is that?

because they produce a shitload of power

230hp

I don't know if I want a plain white/black helmet or one with decals.
Right now I'm leaning towards a black matte one but man is the white one cool.

Help.

matte black shows every scratch and knick on it

Redpill me on wranon

wr user stop posting here 24/7 and go do something useful with your life pham

R.I.P

So, who thook your hymen?

I don't have a bike yet but for me it was the Aprilia Tuono 125 of my friend 10 years ago, he let me ride it when he was training for the license exam.

I left the Honda CB400 club.
Am now a striple fag.

Allow me one last shitpost before I transcend.

Noice user.

Got the bike with you already and everything?

Legally?
Kymco agility 50
>i may or may not have stolen a ciao
>and wrecked it down the boonies

Yep.
Heading off for a ride now.

nice now we can get striple shitposting

I meant bike virginity, not scooter virginity.

For scooters it would be my friend's white Booster that literally slipped under my legs after 1 meter.

1st bike all together, PW80 when i was 5
1st street bike? 2009 gsxr 600 when i was 19

>thinking this is ghostrider
I'm sure he'd lower his quality to shaky GoPro footage if he would ever attempt to ghostride again

Ah...
The some Suzuki that a friend had when i was 12

yz450 in a forest

it was fast

I really ought to get another good dirt bike, but I'm currently stuck having to ride on the freeway to commute and would rather not have a thumper rattling my bones for 2 hours per day at 75 mph.

...

How dangerous is riding at night? Is it esponentially dangerous or just a little bit more dangerous?

How love how no one is pulling to check on him.

DR-Z125 when i was a chillun

I'm so fucking happy for you. Now I'm gonna live vicariously through your shitposts while putt putting about on muh 650
Street triple or STR?

A ybr, almost two years ago.

peewee 50 when i wa like 4, one of my first memories is the smile my dad had on his face the first time i rode my pushbike without training wheels and he said "i think you are redy to ride the peewee 50 mate"

ybr grill when you getting a new bike?

Not her

Night riding is much more dangerous because you can not evaluate road condition as clearly as in daytime.
Everything is checked, he is dead.

didnt you get a sv650?

Yes

at least 5 times as dangerous

hows sv650 going?
i havent had a chance to ride one of the new ones

Some baita tier shadow
