Be careful about this, Brits measure MPG differently and will flip shit at our "low" MPG. (The Fiesta ST, for example, officially gets like 39 in the US, while the exact same car is quoted as close to 50 in the UK IIRC.)
It's because dumb fuck Americans just HAVE to be different so they just up and decided to make their own gallon. Stupid cunts could of at least called it something else

I have a 5.7L V8 and get 11L/100km. Maybe you just suck at driving?
The US gallon predates the UK one, though. The current Imperial gallon wasn't defined until the 1820s, well after the US split off from the UK/

Well, a mixture of commuting 3km in town and 30 km on b-roads, but if you're using a diesel in the city you're doing it wrong
I get 17 MPG combined quite easily, but it's quite a difference from my old Camry Hybrid.

Over the past 12,866 miles of work commutes
An average of 54.56 mpg or 5.2 L/100km
This has cost me €1,397.29
My average distance per full tank to reserve tank is 379 Miles or 609 Kilometers. I always fill the tank.
My average fuel price is €1.25 per litre.
I drive at the speed limit 50% of the time (city) and 10-20kmph above the speed limit the other 50% of the time (motorway).
I have got the rear end of the car to step out 3 times in damp conditions (twice on round-a-bouts and once on a 110 degree motorway on ramp) in an effort to keep momentum high.
If I prioritized economy over getting from A-B in the fastest somewhat legal time, 60+mpg is very possible.
