It wasn't a racing legend like the R32. It wasn't godzilla.

>racing legend
>godzilla
Kill you are self

I think its lesser known.

Question: Why does no one talk about the R31?
Answer: It's not Godzilla
Open and shut. Delete the thread.

>dat 80's boxyness

I'd actually want one so i can feel some smug superiority over the already smug bunch of people that other Skyline owners are.

Aside from being a more obscure variant, a big reason is that Nissan Laurels are legal to import now. The C33 variant is very similar aesthetically and even has a RB engine. Also R34s will eventually be legal along with S15s and I think a lot of the more serious and experienced drivers are saving their money to gear up for that.

More often than not people that own R31s are generally hardcore tuners that have grown out of their drift missile phase, actually know how to drive/drift and fix things themselves.

The select few that I've seen in America all have clean SR-20 swaps. My guess is that it is like seeing a V8 swapped Rx-7 FD in terms of extended ownership without locking it up in a garage forever.

Bevause a.ericans only think two generations of the skyline exist

R31 had a fantastic racing heritage. It actually won Bathurst long before the r32 did, and it didn't need to break the rules to do so

Godzilla meme a fucking lie

Sorry, phone posting on the toilet but I also think the boxy 80s look is very hit or miss for many people, especially people tired of hearing about 86s outside of Japan.

I personally love it. Its also worth mentioning that the dashboard is really cool looking. I don't have any pics available on this phone but I hope someone can upload it here.

Skyline thread?

Skyline thread.

There was also a Nissan Laurel thread on here a few days ago. Check it out if you haven't yet - probably archived by now.

>it didn't need to break the rules to do so

Never heard of this, how did they cheat?

...

...

>the Skyline name was carried on by Infiniti products

I like

but people post this in every car commercial thread

Because it's not the R32.

Same reason people don't talk about the R33, it's because it's not the R34.

what are you mad for ?
the R35 is great

The R33 is the true bastard child. The main thing ppl use it for is to swap S1 RB25s into their 240sxs and relocate the ignition chip and ECU into the glovebox.

Probably because no gtr. It was still a capable race car

Because it's too obscure.

It's for the best, stops people buying it because of what it's associated with rather than what it is, ala AE86.

Still waiting for the 350gt sedan to get some respect.. V35s arent slouches

You have 6.5 seconds to tell me why not to buy this

>this is literally 20 minutes north of me
fuck

Im semi seriously considering paying for shipping all the way here to Massachusetts.

>SOHC CA18 powered, not even RB30
>odometer has been reset, no accurate reading of mileage
>baby poo brown with porn star 80's red interior
>modified, probably thrashed
>rusty, probably more you can't see
>$7250 for something probably worth $1500 at best

I don't see the appeal honestly. If you want one bad enough import one yourself from Japan or Australia.

Rocker panel rust should be a red flag...

>baby poo brown with porn star 80's red interior
>Not a positive

I coulda had this GEM instead of all the money I dumped into my recent prelude purchase

That's an Infiniti you utter dipshit

An R31 GTS Silhouette is like one of my dreams right now

Isn't that an R30 tho since it's an RS Turbo?

I'd chose a hatch over a wagon.

I dunno, most "car-guys" have only ever heard of the R32s and 34s because they've been memed into stardom. I fucking dig it though. It's got delectably 80's boxyness to it, and it's definitely got that nostalgic touge feel to it. I can't decide what I like better, the R30/31 or the R33. Both are on my list of cars to import though, right behind a Chaser Tourer.

This guy gets it.

First of all lol. Secondly do some research

R31 had great commercials

I had a couple of r31s including this beater turbo.

As far as 80's goodness goes I'd rate them ma61/10.

R30s were better.
youtube.com/watch?v=k9hjQn_95-Q

ma61 ayyyy

You can get a Stagea RS4 for those moneys

Oh hey, I think that's my old friend's old car. He has a JNC sticker and the signage is in English, so it's probably in the US, and my friend's car was one of only two RS-TURBOs in the country as of a couple of years ago. He had the same color combo and stuff too.

I'm sad he got rid of it, but he was sick of owning a car he couldn't use for anything because it was impossible to get parts if anything broke, nightmare to insure, etc.

Everybody says their car is one of X in the country it's bullshit.
