they're like 5 fucking k USD in Japan, the supply is just so high. In Canada, where we have access to the entire supply of JDM FDs, they cost about 9-10k, as all of the process of getting it over and on the road legally is expensive. OP could have saved money by getting a '91 JDM, but probably only a few grand. Fuck it though, a good condition FD is worth 16k.

Not worth the hassle, you only need to premix when you reach the limits of the omp.
And if you strictly premix it's recommended that you remove the omp system and run a premix oil that's designed for fuel injection use.

I've been registered on RX-7 club since 2003, I am guessing you were in kindergarten then. I owned one, and I have friends with them. Something is always going wrong with the engine management or turbo control. And when that isn't happening the engine will be blowing one seal or another.
From the factory they need better cooling, and they need the turbo control solenoids replaced with something more durable. If you take care of the cooling (intercooler, radiator and add a second oil cooler), go to a single turbo, and go to a standalone ECU they can be fairly reliable as far as stressed turbo motors go.
I get it, it is your dream car and you don't want somebody to bring you back to reality. Go pick a fight with somebody that doesn't know what they are talking about.

On my FD I went with upgraded twins and solenoids. I went in knowing full well that it was going to be more trouble than a single, but the sequential twins are one of the cars coolest features.
If you want to spend the least amount of time under the hood, sure a single is better. The bearings are so good now that there really isn't more lag than the twins.
My car worked great when a sold it, boosted hard. PO before I bought it tracked it and got it hot enough that there was evidence of some coolant seepage between the the housings and irons. Both my friend and I expected a coolant seal to go, engine ended up lunching its front bearing on him. It was a mazda factory remain. Pulled that out, put in a engine he rebuilt, haven't been able to get the sequentials to function properly since. We've checked wring, we have checked all the vacuum lines, we have checked the actuators... we'll find it sooner or later but until then the car sits. My friend is one of those people that isn't bothered by having it sit around.
