I don't fear it, I know it.

my first 4x4 truck was a used bronco ii that I saved for three months to buy. I fucking quit smoking to afford that truck. I scrimped and saved to pay for every single modification on it. It was my blood, sweat and tears built that truck.

I loved it, it had meaning to me.

Now if I want a 4x4 I go buy it. Takes an hour or two tops. I do not love my current truck, it has no meaning to me. The same is true of pretty much everything I own and do. It hasn't ruined things completely, just made them cheaper. Less meaningful.

your mileage may vary.

I don't think so. The only way would be if I was sacrificing significant time away from my family and friends in order to make that money.

A few years back I had the opportunity to lead the opening of a remote branch in another country. Awesome money, benefits, and lifestyle, but I'd be working constantly and was 1,000 miles away from my family and friends. I turned it down.

An old Jewish man used to tell me "Make the money, don't let the money make you". He was saying that you shouldn't go against your values or diminish your enjoy and quality of life in order to make money.

happy_sad

Ok everyone think about is this way...

In life you always focus on what's missing. The missing tiles. For a poor person, their missing tiles are food, security, attracting mates, having friends, etc. Rich people have all that so the missing tiles they focus on is "meaningfulness".

Are rich people happier than poor people? No, it's the same. Your brain is just a bunch of atoms, and being "rich" or "poor" is just a certain arrangement of atoms, your brain has no objective way of determining if you are rich or poor. Humans will always find half of their life bad, and half of their life good. It is all relative. Objectively, we are living more luxurious lifestyles then the richest kings in the past. But it doesn't matter because you will always get used to it. We are programmed to be dissatisfied, always. Even if we have a colony on mars and achieve world peace we will keep improving because we are literally never satisfied.

Flameblow

Ignoramus
Ignoramus

"Doing something meaningful" is pretty meaningless since its different for everyone and is self defined. As an example people would moan that because they're rich if they wanted to do something, like for example renovate a car they could just pay the money for some garage to do it which would give no satisfaction. But theres absolutely nothing stopping you from doing the work yourself and feeling rewarded (being rich just means you could afford tools and fuckups during the process without worries/ruining yourself like a poor person could). Rich or poor you just have to set yourself targets to work towards.

We are about to buy a shit house in the country. The wifes recently deceased grandfather lived there. God bless that man. There will never be a more caring or positive roll model on this earth. I intend to carry on his legacy by collecting pretty much anything. No matter how much money i make, riding a 4 wheeler 5 miles down a dirt road to my best friend's house ore tinkering with random shit will be my future until i die.

As long as you see money as a tool to freedom and nothing more i think u will be fine.

Took me a lot of years to understand this. But i may actually be happy for the first time in my life. And aside from being a wagecuck my life is perfect.

Pretty good exercise for everyone that I learned from my boss who has a net worth in the low 8 figures.

"Image your dream day, what does it look like, what time do you wake up, what do you have for breakfast, where do you eat breakfast, who are you with? What do you spend your day doing and who do you spend it with? How do you schedule your time in this dream day where everything is accessible and money is not an issue?"

Find out what your dream day is and work towards that. You'd be surprised at the ability to live your ideal lifestyle even on modest means and a part-time income. This is assuming you aren't driving a Maserati to your private jet to fly to Monaco every day.

Not really. I have always been under the impression that it is mostly true. Although, this guy isn't really giving him enough credit for his ability to market himself which is probably how he sustains his lifestyle. Guy has millions of IG followers, regularly engages in various marketing partnerships with the likes of draftkings, vacation companies, and clothing/merchandise companies. He has also done a good job representing himself in the general media (at least in a way that gets him a lot of attention). So overall, there isn't much to hate about the guy. He had an opportunity and is capitalizing on it. That is all you can really do in this world.

This board was intended for legitimate business discussion in an anonymous setting. In theory, this is ideal for millionaires and aspiring millionaires. However, the reality is that it's flooded by the NEET /r9k/ user who is willing to do any scam necessary to make millions of dollars overnight by selling his integrity. These people are mixed with people who are just interested in stocks. With a couple of people genuinely interested in business and some millionaires who seldom contribute for reasons you can see.

I always see these threads whenever I stop by. They're so depressing. If you're unhappy now, you will be unhappy when you're rich. Here's an example for you. Let's say you want an <object>. You work hard and save up your money for <object>. You want the latest and greatest version of <object>. You finally get it. You accomplish your goal. Now you have said <object>, but you get bored of it soon enough. Then you'll be able to next <object>, but this one is better because it has <generic feature>!

Once it's the norm in your life, you will get used to it. When you get used to it, you'll go to something else. The void will never be filled. You have to trust me on this. I swear this on everything. May I get cancer if I'm wrong. That's how sure I am. For one, I went through it myself. Two, everyone goes through it and you won't be any different than millions of people before you. Three, you already went through it. Think about a situation like this in your life. Scale it up and it's the same.

It's all mental health. Something no one seems to respect. It's fine to like lavish things, I'm not saying you should live in a hut, but put things in perspective. It's empty happiness and you shouldn't live for materialistic things. You should care about your health, relationships, and important things like that. Everything else is secondary.

Listen up you fucking neets, this guy is right. You guys that think you'll just rent a small studio apartment and invest $1 million and live off that are living in fucking la la land. At least beforehand I had this delusion that more money would fix everything but the realization of that not being true has just made things worse.

If you reduce yourself to limos, stupid gold watches or other pointless displays, you will feel pretty empty after some time. Really depends on what you are collecting money for. If you want to be rich at some point, i.e. never having to think about expenses, a million is ok to grow. If you know what you are doing a mil is enough, lots of people have began with less and ended up with more than they need.
If you want to grow it to an amount where you have access to political power, govt tech, loli slaves or other shit like that it is inadequate - but then you can say it about almost any amount.

As long as I don't go overboard with my hobbies, and keep asking myself, "Do I really need this?" before making major purchases, life is rewarding. I can afford to indulge my hobbies, enjoy a social life, volunteer. Not having to constantly worry and plan on how I was getting to next payday has freed me to explore and enrich myself.

I think what most people don't get is that most of the guys who "made it" did not just do it for the money. Richness beyond imagination was just a by-product of their drive to excel.

Look at this old hungarian fuck here. Why does he still go to Davos or talk to people at all? He could've stopped sometime in the 80's. But he likes business and the markets. He wanted to excel, and succeeded, but didn't stop there. Same thing with Buffett and other investors and entrepreneurs.

I'd say most rich people are the same in this regard. Sure, their belongings may be high class, and they go on vacation on barbados a few times a year. But the rest of the time, they work, because they want to.

More money still adds quality to your life (at least up to a certain point) and you don't want to miss out on that, even if it doesn't give you fulfillment or more happiness. You can find that in other things.

Are rich people happier than poor people? No, it's the same.

Really though? Maybe if you're born into money. I've been poor and had a liveable amount of money (not even rich) and I can tell you, shit was way brighter when I had money. I had less to worry about in life. When I had no money, that's all I would think about. It would haunt my life. Will my internet get shut off? Will I have enough for gas or food this week? Will I get evicted? That's all you think about, all day long. When I had money? I could do things I wanted to do. I had the ability to enjoy my life, rather than just try and survive it.

We already fucking do that. My dream day isn't waking up with a blowjob and flying to Miami or some shit, it's just a couple steps above a regular day. Why? Because that's actually accessible. I set my goals and dreams according to what I know is possible. When that is accomplished, I change the dream and keep moving forward.

Like what kind of fucking stupid ass advice is this?
This is assuming you aren't driving a Maserati to your private jet to fly to Monaco every day.

Guess everyone's dream that isn't a regular day is fucked then. Like fuck your stupid boss. I swear rich people say some of the dumbest, pseudo-intellectual bullshit.

No. After years of subsisting on a modest income in an extremely dull job, I'm now comfortably off and training towards a very highly paid and interesting field, as is my partner. My income allows me to do things that I previously couldn't afford - eat at nice restaurants, take regular holidays, buy any book or videogame that I want, buy the latest technology and purchase nice gifts for others. Eventually I'll be in a position to purchase a house in the New Town in Edinburgh, where I lived briefly as a child and have always wanted to move back to.

All of these things may be materialistic - the fact is, I've experienced the alternative, and it's fucking shite. My father went bankrupt twice and I spent much of my childhood moving all over the country - that lack of security is nerve-wracking. Relative affluence on the other hand brings stability and comfort alongside the means to enjoy things that hitherto I couldn't afford.

Yes. It can and will depending on what your idea of being "rich" and your fantasies are.
It's like being good looking. At first the attention is nice.. then you realize how shallow and depressing it is. "One day when my looks fade, the girls won't get wet over me.. They're only being nice to me because I look good. These people assume things about me because I look like xyz."
And you'll be focused on how much richer/better looking the people around you are. How you're not as fit, energetic, and full of life and an innocent naivety to the world. Everyone around you suddenly only seem to be super loving and caring. They shun you if you don't help. They feel entitled.

It's probably not everyone's idea of 'very highly paid' or indeed 'interesting' but I am a graduate quantity surveyor with a large construction firm. I got a first in BSc Quantity Surveying whilst working part-time as a mature student. My partner is a junior doctor.

I'm sure that by some people's estimation I will never become rich with this job, even if I move on to commercial management or director/associate, but compared with what I was doing previously (customer services) I certainly feel well-off and the prospects are pretty decent.

No, if I would win the lottery I would secure a lifestyle to create passive income, and then I would travel. Not needing to participate in the soul-crushing wheel of working (in Spain in even implies overtime work with no extra payment, even though it's illegal) I would be able to pursue any target in life, or even just relaxing and chill.

fix that, pronto.

the mistakes you make as a teenager cripple you when starting your adult life. and a crippled adult life can only achieve so much, no matter how hard you believe in the "work hard" meme

Why would it? If I didn't have to work, I'd still probably work part-time just to feel like I'm doing something useful.

Money won't solve the problems with my life, but it'll stop me worrying about money.
As I'm currently on minimum expenditure until payday because I made a big purchase, money would solve that problem but not a lot else.

My life has meaning because I actively fight depression. Even if my routine is sleep/work/sleep/work, I try to do things when I have time.
