BTW any later master cylinder for 7/8" bars with the correct thread for your banjo bolt could substitute if dat reservoir crumbles or the cylinder bore is scored etc. Lots of Hondas used similar cylinders but I'd have no problem with using whatever brand fits.
Yeah I know, I read that the GL1000 brakes actually work pretty well though, so I'm probably jut going to order a rebuild kit and a replacement reservoir once my new debit card gets here >next weekend

Here's the bike I bought a month ago. First bike ever. Kawasaki Vulcan S. Did I do good?
Jackson Edwards
Hey guys, Ural guy here. Been out of town all weekend so I drove my bike for the 3rd time since I bought it. Decided to try kick starting it.
I came back, parked, and left for an hour. There was a pool of gas about four feet around under the bike.
There's still gas in the tank. I moved it back and saw it leak a couple more drops from the right carburetor. Pic related.
First two drives were fine, only difference is I kick started it. I remember I twisted the throttle open before I started it so I'm wondering if I flooded the carb, and once the engine was off the gas had nowhere to go but out? Not going to start it until the gas is completely dried up but anyone have any ideas?
Julian Parker
needle and seat arent sealing in the carb, clean it out and you should be good to go
Dominic Phillips
If I ever got a credit card, I would pay off the balance every month. I'm already 80k in debt from uni
Jayden Allen
It sure is m8
Xavier Wood
But if I'm going to get a Goldwing I might as well get one fully faired with luggage options.
James White
>80k in debt from uni Oh, so you are living the american dream.
Levi Evans
The price is right, and when the clueless are selling one it may not be due to what they thought was broken. I'd check the basics to make sure the starter is getting power.
BTW never jump a bike off a running car. Da bike regulator tries to regulate the car alternator....
I'd replace the battery cables ( I make new ones using light gage welding cable from any local welding supply) and throw on a new aftermarket solenoid (cheap).

Is there a good how-to guide anywhere on carbs generically?

Don't think so, manual doesn't list anything

Yes. I first learned Wings at my mentors shop in the 1980s. I still wrench there for fun and to help him out since he's 78. He's a retired AF crew chief (1950s-1970s) who worked century series fighters, all sorts of shit in Nam and Thailand, AC-130s and Phantoms.

That Ural forum I linked should cover you, but the float and needle system is much like a toilet except the fuel is sucked into the carbs venturi instead of being "flushed" downwards. You can remove the float bowl with the carb connected to a fuel source and check by moving the float by hand to ensure it seats. Ural is a BMW copy so you should be able to pull the bowls with the carbs installed or rotated for convenience.
boss hogg. you can get the "regular" 350 v8, or the "big" v8 (can't remember displacement). since they are CSB, you can basically do any of the normal go-fast mods you want. tranny has 2 forward speeds. reported to handle surprisingly well, given the weight and heft.
