I am a linux user... sadly I have learned to accept command lines... even if they are more arcane-spells that I need know and not understand as opposed to an actually acquired knowledge for me.

it becomes a natural movement all done by muscle memory. If you're not comfortable with where the gear shifter is you can adjust it

Max comfy, the vibes arent even that bad with the right handgrips, some thick bars and bark busters. Plus it's kickass around town and isn't half bad on Highway with a 15t front sprocket.
I think it looks nice, plus witb the fuel that low, it brings the center of gravity lower and makes it handle a bit better, less topheavy.

Hey guys, so I have a meme bike, the r3. It's just not quick enough for me to really enjoy riding, so I have been considering getting a new bike once I get my enlistment bonus in the navy.
Budget would be around $7k US, and I can't decide between a naked or a sport-touring.
What would you do in my situation? I will likely be buying used.

Well, lemme ask you this: where's your first duty station and what's the overall bonus? If the terrain is mostly straight roads like NAS P'cola and Jax, then get a naked. You're gonna need all the airflow you can get and you'll get a decent rush just bombing around town and onnabeach. If your bonus is right at 7k or so, bank it. Invest that shizz, see if you can blast it into TSP or something. It'll pay off quite nicely later. Trust me.

Alright, asshole, how about some real advice? I ride on flat fucking highway for miles to work, and am tired of riding in 6th at 8k.

Thanks for the tip, I have only ridden faster sportbikes before, and I really don't think I could get used to the seating position, so that is the main reason I'm asking.
Considering it will mostly be for commuting, I'm leaning towards sport touring.

Overall bonus is 12k and I will be in Charleston for two years.

A comfy sport tourer would do you well, since you've got hills and mountains not too far away. You gotta do some weekend trips, motocamping, etc.
