#RehabilitateTheRetaliator

>tfw still waiting to land on atmospheric planets

Just implement armor and make turrets not get fucked by pilot maneuvers.

Why do we need our scanners to be so fucking heavy?

but moooom, we were going to head over to the javelin and pick up some power converters
- last words of luke sandwalker, 2946

ban assault blacks

Xth for size chart, and POLARIS BEST SHIP

>even knowing half these names

that's a kewl armor

I want to see a bunch of Glaives stuck in a Polaris

-Change the front turrets to remote 2xS4s that can slaved to pilot control or gunner controls
-Replace space wasting racks in main torpedo bay with a revolving chamber so all 6 torps can fit in it.
-Change rear bay to a missile reloader/launcher module thatt holds 10 S3 missiles (or 20 s2s) for better anti-fighter capability.
- captain's quarters becomes med bay
- redundant crew elevator turns into small cargo area
- Crew quarters turned into galley/mess area
- Beds/escape pods distributed through out ship, for beter evacuation, replacing all those damn lockers.

>give the retaliator the same sized guns as the polaris

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

what's your account name on RSI?

we should talk about this more in private ;^)

Polaris should have ~20 size 10 torps.
Retaliator should have 16 size 9 torps.

Polaris shouldn't be designed to HURR WEDGE SHAPE GO FAST because that basically invalidates the retaliator. Polaris should be a slow moving gunboat with heavy forward firepower and automated flak turrets.

Retaliator should be the one to move in fast and deliver a big payload then retreat to reload. Polaris should be able to stay in a firefight longer and provide fleet escort.

>muh muhhhh multicrew ships

small/med fighters will rule the space

>It's a "lets compare one Retaliator to one Polaris" episode

CR votes hillary because he recognizes his autistic need for control within her and sees Trump as a second rate businessman. Trump had to use loopholes and tricks. CR just put up a kickstarter video.

>It's a "you can use more than 1 retaliator to beat a polaris" episode

Funny how you can use more than 1 polaris too. And how 1 polaris has more firepower than 3 retaliators at a cheaper equivalent price and does the same "get in fast and deliver torpedoes and get out fast" marketing line.

>how do we make $3million?
>lets make a bigger and better retaliator with the ability to launch a fighter and equip bigger guns

No... It was thinking more 'give it the same size guns as the connie and starfarer have'.

I'm at 100% with the federation at cadet, how do i go up to midshipman?

mission boards should have rank up missions

So a few questions about the 2.2 patch

1. Are Fighter Bays worth having

2. Are passenger missions better money than trading?

where'd that vaulting come from?

>people unironically still thinking the retaliator's role is anything other than "go in, fire torpedos, get out, rearm, repeat"

idk what to say man, go study naval fleet composition in google for 5 minutes. retaliator is the hunter-killer submarine role and nothing else

That's odd, I've refreshed the board several times but nothing. does it have something to do with being on a planet?

I just realized being in orbit is like flying in the hitchhiker's galaxy. Jump and miss the ground.

fall and miss the ground*
fuck

1. Not unless you rank an npc pilot up to Elite, which takes forever and they permadie if you ever lose your main ship. Traders can't really afford the lost cargo, which is at least 32T, and combat ships are better off with a shield cell in the slot.
2. If you can stack medium-range VIP cruises to the same destination, sure.

>NPC Crew Permadeath if ship is destroyed
>Grindy to level up

And suddenly, it's wasted. At least until players can crew.

1. uh kinda, they're a lot more fun than shield cell banks, and if you're mostly fighting off NPCs they're pretty alright.

2. At the moment yeah they're the best money.

Though I'm not sure if I should try stacking one type of cabin or as many different kinds as possible to make the most money.

>mission to kill 6 sentry skimmers
>base only spawns 4
fugg, can i reset it quickly?

i think if you just switch from open to private it resets the base.

No, they're rando like any mission. The more fed factions at the station the better the chance one will pop up.

Doing the sentry skimmer things, is it worth going for the ++ bases? I'm not sure how hard they are but they've got more missions for cash, but that doesn't really do anything if i just get blown up. Also, i get a bounty there compared to kenths inheritance which has no security as well

>Inserting politics into fucking everything.
Fuck you and fuck off.

The infectious fucking mindset is literally killing our civilization, get it out of your fucking head. You should not choose everything in your life based on your fucking party affiliation, If you do you are fucking retarded and I hope to find and disembowel you on the day of the rope, regardless of which side your on.

>Community wants info on progress on 2.6 and 3.0 during the anniversary livestream
>CIG wants to talk more about ships they want to sell instead

This is just getting retarded. The last few months have me thinking that CIG has poor financial management, due to:

1. CIG doesn't show a bit of progress until 2.6 or 3.0 is finished, thus, creating shock and amazement when it does come

2. CIG seems to have been cranking concept ships more frequently than they have in the last couple years.

Couple those things together, it seems that controlled hype and ship sales makes it look like CIG really needs sales. Ironically, if CIG just FUCKING FINISHED a single goddamned thing like Sq42 or Star Marine, they would make tons of income from other sources than current backers.

Even if CIG isnt running out of money, it sure as fuck gets illustrated that way.

I swear that memes have made elections so much more unbearable, jesus christ

What's the difference between torpedo pylons and missile racks?

Scale and very little else.

Hey /scg/, which ship is closest to being the Vic Viper?

There is nothing political inherent in this choice.

Presidents are just puppets you baka

>When you finished up your contracts just crash into the ground to respawn at the base, collect your dosh, and do it all over again.

Why is this even allowed?

the buccaneer or sabre

Even Frontier knows how tedious their gameplay is. They probably leave that shit in on purpose and then wait to nerf it when the dads bitch and moan about another good source of income.

>They probably leave that shit in on purpose and then wait to nerf it when the dads bitch and moan about another good source of income.
why do the dads bitch anyway ? Remind me

Because it trivializes the fact that they spent a thousand hours playing the game and don't even have enough money for anything more than a Cobra. No joke, I've seen people posting with pride that they spent hundreds of hours in game and "only had 5 million" or some small number.

they're obsessed about the original game from their childhood, and fear ed becoming too casualized, or attracting the wrong audience

>No joke, I've seen people posting with pride that they spent hundreds of hours in game and "only had 5 million" or some small number.
Wow that's ... slightly worrying.
I can't help but feel the devs are taking the easy way by catering to those people. I mean they're not the ones to ask about new features / gameplay mechanics. Soon they'll realize they can't live off the dad crown unless they start a subscription system
A shame

I actively expect the dads to start complaining that 30,000 LY passenger routes pay too much.

did anybody watch the new townhall?

Is there anything in it worth watching?

I can't do a hour of CIG banter cold

youtube.com/watch?v=sQEVxFS3vxw

...

i'm desperate enough for new info to watch all that shit

honestly just skip thru til you see ingame footage or a dev that actually does things that matter

sean tracey in the first frame of video, it's probably worth watching since this since this game would have no future without his cryengine wizardry

Wolf–Rayet stars, often abbreviated as WR stars, are a heterogeneous set of stars with unusual spectra showing prominent broad emission lines of highly ionised helium and nitrogen or carbon. The spectra indicate very high surface temperatures from 30,000 K to around 200,000 K, surface enhancement of heavy elements, and strong stellar winds.

Classic (or Population I) Wolf–Rayet stars are evolved, massive stars that have completely lost their outer hydrogen and are fusing helium or heavier elements in the core. A subset of the population I WR stars show hydrogen lines in their spectra and are known as WNh stars; they are young extremely massive stars still fusing hydrogen at the core, with helium and nitrogen exposed at the surface by strong mixing and radiation-driven mass loss. A separate group of stars with WR spectra are the central stars of planetary nebulae (CSPNe), post Asymptotic Giant Branch stars that were similar to the Sun while on the main sequence, but have now ceased fusion and shed their atmospheres to reveal a bare carbon-oxygen core.

All Wolf–Rayet stars are highly luminous objects due to their high temperatures—thousands of times the bolometric luminosity of the Sun (L) for the CSPNe, hundreds of thousands L for the Population I WR stars, to over a million L for the WNh stars—although not exceptionally bright visually since most of their radiation output is in the ultraviolet.

The naked-eye stars Gamma Velorum and Theta Muscae, as well as the most massive known star, R136a1 in 30 Doradus, are all Wolf–Rayet stars.

But it's all true...from a certain point of view.

>trying to reignite the "I'm speculating about things that arent going to happen til 2018 at the earliest" argument
>passive-aggressive filename

you shitpost like a girl

I think everyone is over estimating PvP.

I doubt it's going to be as prevalent as people seem to think.

Grabbing the parachute for this one commandos, croberts cannot be trusted

Remember the guy that used to whine about all the ships he hadn't pledged for being "locked behind a paywall" and said he should get to fly every ship at any time because it's alpha?

I always knew that faggot would eventually have a breakdown just like this. Ironically he's actually arguing that the game economy should be completely shackled to the pledge ship prices just because CIG didn't want to charge 30,000 real dollars for a polaris.

>croberts
goon detected, easily, as usual

>used to whine about all the ships he hadn't pledged for being "locked behind a paywall"
But they are. An occasional free weekend isn't long enough. More players having access to all ships, equipment and weapons will generate many more bug reports than people messing around in their little starter ship or being uninterested in playing AC because instead of being a sandbox play pit, it's a grind2rent2win simulator.

Where did your $30,000 Polaris pricetag comment come from? Where did anyone in this thread say say anything like what you mentioned in your shitpost?

There's literally no reason to limit the amount of ships a player can use in the alpha other than forcing them to use the cash shop. Hence a paywall.

>I'm speculating about things that arent going to happen til 2018 at the earliest
You mean when the guy was talking with Ben "Director of Ships" Lesnick and commented that 30million UEC was a fair price for the Polaris?

You do realize how much influence Ben has in this game, right? How it was his idea for limited LTI, limited Vanduul ships and their prices, etc?

>oh well, so what if it turns out to be true that it costs 30million UEC
>at least i shilled for the game on /scg/
>i don't care what that guy who told me so thinks :^)

750,000 UEC is an acceptable price tag for the Polaris.
30,000,000 UEC is not.

>750,000 UEC is an acceptable price tag for the Polaris.
>30,000,000 UEC is not.

What do you think is going to be the average UEC/H taking into consideration that 1k UEC is roughly 1 USD

And I was right. If I'm giving some faggot money for development AND paying to playtest I'm going to expect something more than my shitty 300i.

I'm tired of this community's doublethink that
>ship purchases ultimately don't matter in the alpha/beta/release
followed by
>permanently allowing all ships for testing is a bad thing

>Saying X price is ok and Y is not when we don't even know the average dosh gain.

the average is going to be about 5k UEC/h
Thats the average on other mmos(5usd/h at high efficiency)

oh my god this nigger actually made that image

>Unsubstantiated conjecture courtesy of my rectum :^)

>the average dosh gain
Why would they change it?

If 1000UEC is for pushing a button inside a satellite, why would they hike up currency even more? Stupid inflation.

>your balance is 3234098250972590384530984 UEC

A bit like EVE.

Keep it in the millions at the high end of the scale, it's simpler

That's what I'm saying, about 0.75million for a Polaris. It's not even as big as an Orion, and you think it's OK to be inflated as shit at 30million?

Why can't ships cost their USD value in 1000UEC/1USD conversion rate? Why shouldn't you be able to buy a Javelin at 2.5million?

Do you not realize how expensive a Javelin would be if they kept this stupid inflated mindset? 100 or 200 million?

Someone on leddit did some maths and it was supposed to take 3.8 years playing solo a few hours per night to get a Polaris.

Their whole model on the ship buy isn't that you're paying for a ship, but you're giving them that money for development. Of course you'll get a better ship with more money because it is incentive to spend more. Who would spend 30 dollars for a Constellation and 300 dollars for a Hull A?

You're not spending for the ship, but for the development AND the more you give the better ships you get. Nobody seems to get the concept and too many people equate real life money to the game equivalent like it is some hard set mathematical equation especially for a game in early alpha.

Are you the guy who got BTFO 2 threads ago saying you want the game to be a grind-free safe space where everyone has everything inside a couple months? that bait has already proven ineffective for you

>There's literally no reason to limit the amount of ships a player can use in the alpha other than forcing them to use the cash shop. Hence a paywall.

I have to agree with you, user. In an ALPHA of a video game the developer should allow more leeway in regards to content access. REC income should be increased massively and rental ships should be allowed back into the PU for the sake of testing.

>750,000 UEC is an acceptable price tag for the Polaris. 30,000,000 UEC is not.

750k for an empty shell with nothing in it if we were to go off that price. The 30 mill could be the total fit cost. I'm wondering how much those size 10 torps will go for? 1.5 mill apiece? Imaging having to throw 4-6 of those at a smaller cap ship just to disable it.

So the Corvette can hold 2 fighters but i can only hire one pilot and there fore launch one what the fuck am i supposed to do with the second fighter Frontier?

>the guy who got BTFO
No, I'm the guy who gave rational arguments using Chris Robert's original kickstarter claims and triggered some RSIdrone in to making some picture about me using cosplayers.

This game isn't WoW, it doesn't need a gear treadmill. It doesn't need gearscore, or elitism.

Star Citizen is about emergent gameplay, not grinding thousands of hours to buy e-peen bragging rights you can post on an anonymous imageboard.

Aurora = shit = cheap
Javelin = awesome = $2500

Let's look in the middle
Avenger = shit but better than aurora = more expensive than aurora
Retaliator = better than avenger = more expensive than avenger
Idris = better than retaliator = more expensive than retaliator

Are you seeing a pattern? Pledge price increases as the ship's combat/utility/profession effectiveness increases.

You can't claim that prices don't mean shit and they are just rigid pledge prices to donate to the devs, because you get rewarded with higher tier equipment at higher prices.

Hope that helps.

Wait, hold the fuck up. Really?

>Why would they change it?

Because as they add things like bulk trade and trading missions they'll have to adjust mission payouts so that everything remains roughly competitive with each other.

You, along with everyone else saying X price is ok are making the mistake of thinking missions will be the only way of making money in the actual game.

>Someone on leddit did some maths and it was supposed to take 3.8 years playing solo a few hours per night to get a Polaris.
>Basing anything off alpha gain rates
Absolutely fully retarded

I believe you can launch one fighter immediately after losing the other, instead of waiting for the first's cool down.

Still lame you can't launch both at once.

So your argument is, just because there will be bot spammers and people exchange leeches who will shit up the economy by earning billions of UEC, the prices of ships should be absurdly high?

Retarded argument.

>you only have 1 million UEC from bounty hunting?
>hahaha loser, get this and and grind 30million UEC to buy this ship that i have xD

Yep i can technically hire 4 but that because i can have 3 in my "hanger" and one on my ship but the ones in the hanger don't do anything and the ship can only hold 1 crew member at a time even though the corvette has at least 3 bridge stations

Thanks for coming back, faggot. The thread was boring without you here to laugh at.

FTroop has disappointed me in ways I didn't think they could disappoint me in.

>it's an "user wants to shit up star citizen by turning it in to World of Warcraft" episode

What's your gearscore?
Sorry scrub, you can't come to our 25m heroic Vanduul raid xD
Got run this for the 15th time to get my Avenger Frostmourne
>tfw only 2.5% drop rate ;(

hahahahahahaha what a fag

>MMOs have grind, so Star Citizen has to have grind!
>it's the law! an unspoken and unbreakable rule!

>tfw quit my job so i can shit in a bucket and play for 18 hours per day to grind enough UEC to buy a gf

You got laughed right out of the thread from what i remember

The game will either have progression and diversity, or it'll be your vision of it where there's a specific amount of time required to progress, then you're at endgame with everyone else, removing the diversity.

you're describing what WoW's progression has always been - you level up, relatively fast and hit lvl cap - theres a meta build for your class and role that theres no reason to deviate from - then you do engame content, and eventually end up with the exact same character as everyone else, and bam, you've done all there is to do unless you want to start all over again.

You don't seem to understand that, unlike WoW, having the best things and doing the hardest content is a niche optional route to take. if you want to do these things in any time effective manner, you're going to need alot of freinds and some work ethic. if you don't have freinds or work ethic, it's going to be a "challenge".

is that OK with you :^)
