GAY DISTRICTS

How do I make Marathon less terrible

also why does Fraxis hate Domination, the entire end movie is "BUT WHAT IF YOU DIDN'T KILL EVERYONE?!?!?!?"

As a general rule, what's the ideal amount of cities you should have? With the way district costs go up, it seems like a lot of cities isn't the best way to go. Is it good to have a city specialized toward each district?

We already have the theater district

>How do I make Marathon less terrible

By not playing marathon

I am fond of having 5 or 6 cities usually

I like 4-6 cities all of them with industrial and commercial districts and then add districts according to victory I want

Do you treat your cities as equals?

>also why does Fraxis hate Domination

It does seem like they shit on that harder than any other victory. The few games I've played warmongering I end up with crippling war weariness due to having to mow through 50 fucking warriors with my infantry or muskets or whatever. Not to mention all the warmonger penalties due to CBs.

don't conquer cities without luxuries?

VI Catherine when?

THE CIVILPEDIA IN CIV 6 SUCKS BALLS

WHY DOESN:T IT TELL YOU PERTINENT INFORMATION

NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT HARDLY ANYTHING THEY WRITE THERE.

THEY SPEND ONE FUCKING SENTENCE EXPLAINING THE FUNCTION OF SOMETHING AND THEN SPEND LIKE 2 PARAGRAPHS TALKING ABOUT HIPSTER SHIT NO ONE CARES ABOUT.

FUCK

Not even talking about after I take the cities, war weariness builds per-battle so you end up with massive unrest just meatgrinding the AI's boipucci to get to a city to conquer in the first place.

probably written by the same degenerate who did the quotes

It was always more of an in-game wikipedia entry rather than a strategy guide you faggo

I like the history lessons.

div vi fucking sucks. There could be a great game there in the future but right now it's a giant turd

It's infinitely better than V, even better than V God's and Kings, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say personally for me it's better than BNW.

The core of the game is so full, I'm genuinely excited to see what they add. Likely corporations and diplo vic, but after that.

I would disagree with sucks and turd, but I have to admit after playing a few games of 6 I'm tempted to play 5 to refresh my memory since it's been a year or so since I played it last, or even expanded Beyond Earth because I bought the expansion for like $5 during the Christmas sale and have yet to play a full game of it, even though it looked like it dramatically improved the game.

Should I improve all my tiles? How do districts even work?

Only as best girl, also farms I think or pyraminds.

can you build anything on floodplains desert tiles?

it's literally a couple of AI patches away from being the best civ ever, and that's without dlc or expansions. neck yourself

Do you guys build a scout or builder first?

...

District, or farms o think if you're egypt

its not even fucking good as an in-game wikipedia you fuck

I fucking hate these meme adjacency bonuses.

Why doesn't this show that industry gets bonuses from nearby districts, and which ones?

Builder

>building city right on the coast

Should I invest my time into Civ V or VI.

It could be better but it serves no purpose other than background information on who you are playing

invest?

nigga they games not brokerage firms

>le ebin ironically misunderstanding terms meme
gb2plebbit

according to that reddit cross-post, all major districts get a +1 bonus for every 2 adjacent districts

define major district.

not aqueducts or neighborhoods

Any district? Major wasn't really needed

>2 adjacent
oh, didn't know it needed to be 2

Got the hoover dam, but my cities won't benefit from it until after they've got factories up.

>have 12 maximum trade routes
>change turn
>now I only have 9

What the fuck happened?

How does japan electronic factory works?
Does the 6 tiles thing means you have to build it next to city centers, or at the edge of your city limits next to the limits of the other cities?

hoods and ducts don't give you bonuses

lmao how fucking shit does this look

did you change governments/civic policies?

changing govt type from merchant republic is very upsetting

You go to war with someone? Were they plundered by barbs?
>tfw had like 36 trade routes towards the end of my first game

how does managing citizens work?

That game was the shit back in 2005 m80

If it's lit up, then that tile is actually being used. You can change around your citizens to emphasize production, food, science, gold, etc

Honestly play bnw right now, atleast until they fix some of the issues with 6

So ahistorical Meier-sempai

Uh oh

Click circles on the map to set specific tiles to be unworked or to lock them to be worked.

Bottom-right corner has priorities which you can use to get the AI to automatically assign citizens for you. This saves you from having to micromanage.

So, even if I have improved a tile, if there is not a citizen assigned to it I am not receiving any benefit from it?

>can't starve enemy capitals once you capture them any more

Correct. Improving a tile is only getting it ready to be used

does sid even work on civ games anymore i thought civ rev was his last one

ye

What is a "citizen slot"

If it's a resource like iron you don't have to actually work it to get the iron

It's where your citizens work.

I was figuratively drawing question marks in a bubble above my head when I saw that my cities could work tiles currently occupied by barbarians.

Why would they let you do that? It's retarded. How can you work a tile currently occupied by an enemy?

Correct.

Also, you can only work tiles a maximum of three spaces away from your city center. So keep that in mind when you're settling.

A "Citizen slot" refers to the district system. Tiles with districts can't be worked by citizens until you construct a building in that district that provides a "citizen slot".

It mildly improved the gameplay.

Now instead of being a poorfag all the time and drowning in unhealth, you get ridiculously unbalanced health buffs out of fucking nowhere all the time.

The point is it's still wildly unbalanced, but at least now you don't feel like a scrub as much.

With 0 context provided I would guess it's what you shove population into in districts, which is the civ6 equivalent of specialists.

And on a completely unrelated note, "Your ban was filed on October 24th, 2016 and expires on October 27th, 2016 at 01:11 ET, which is 2 hours and 35 minutes from now."
Soon. Soon I will be able to stop rationally discussing gameplay in Veeky Forums and can return to shitposting /v/. I need it.

I am currently installing Civ 4 and i'm planning on playing the Caveman 2 Cosmos and also the Fall From Heaven mod

am i in for a good ride of fun?

sid works on every civ game, but it's probably less and less over the years, because he's getting older and probably isn't into it as much.

> Islamic London
Only off by like a century, kaffir

>wage war with a shitty civ
>pillage all their stuff
>go back and defend my borders
>they offer peace
lmao cucks

So Russia is a pretty fun city spammer for those sweet holy site districts. But the strat turns out to be shit, because I produce so many artists without buildings to place their shit in.

Whats next? Germany?

I think the key difference is he's no longer a designer or even a lead designer for any of them, he's just a regular programmer at Firaxis and is a sounding board if people want it. I know the Xcom dude over there talked about going to Sid a lot and bouncing ideas off him, which presumably worked out since Xcom EU was pretty good and Xcom 2 is fantastic.

Then again who knows because the less said about Starships the better.

Russia, but go theocracy and faith but an army to win domination

The best Civ game was actually made by B. Reynolds and had nothing to do with Sid. But they still had to slap the title of Sid Meier on it for bullshit legal reasons.

When will we get an actual Alpha Centauri remaster or proper sequel

I have 8ish cities with Lavras getting a +6/7 adjacency bonus. I have theology coming in about 7 turns so I will soon be exploding with faith. Question is, what do I do to actually grow my cities out in the tundra? Most dont have any +food so they are capped at 2 citizens each.

Gachimuchi civ mod when?

> iconic visionary of the TBS genre
> entire franchise is named after you
> you're relegated to being a shitty code monkey while a bunch of faggot hipsters and ventire capitalists run the show

Christ.
That poor guy.

Well I'm not going to play Civ V and VI concurrently.

/rant
>Start a game
>Meet America, Norway and Ghandy
>Norway+Ghandy pileup
>wave of elephants on one side, chariot carpet on the other.
>100 turns and carpet of pikeman+archers later The only victory I can get is domination

What happens to great works someone trades to me but I don't have any room for?

Does he keep them? Are they destroyed?

>Religious wonder finishes
>Enemy converted the city right before it finished, so the units it gave me for the wrong religion

Welp that nice to know. Time for a new game!

you just have them in your inventory and can trade them to someone else

I don't know if he's actually relegated. Everything I've seen of him in interviews and shit seems to imply he's really shy and humble, and the "Sid Meier brand" isn't really his idea or bag.

What civ has the best theme song? Preferably through all eras.

teddy

Does anyone else have a problem with the game just straight up not telling you if someone else completes a wonder you were building?

It'll notify me about like the Pyramids and Oracle but after that it just stays at 2 wonders built for the rest of the game

Right click the icon

>you have been defeated message but still have my cities and no one has done a victory

que

>"Bully for you"

Has Civ VI not had any patches yet?

Negatory good buddy.

This is a no bully zone

Bullies get out

Arabia

Any ETA on patches?

How's firaxis when it comes to hotfixes and patches?

I only bought Civ 4 gold and Civ 5 gold when they were old, so I never had to worry about this stuff before.

No ETA as of yet, and Firaxis is usually pretty slow to put patches out but the patches are usually of fairly high quality. The only thing they've confirmed as coming in some future patch is the world congress.

Didn't it have a 1gb patch recently?

That was some deluxe edition fuckery, adding/expanding the soundtrack and shit.
