SE has many differences to the vanilla game, so not all mods are guaranteed to work. Nothing using SKSE will work. Some texture types will cause the game to CTD and need recompression in Elric.

I think the requirement is that you can no longer use uncompressed textures. They all have to be compressed. However, DX11 games can use BC7 which is basically near lossless quality.
Meshes can't be constructed in a specific way, but Bethesda supposedly made a tool to fix that which comes with the CK?

So... I was having frame rate issues yesterday on the Special Edition yesterday, downloaded the unofficial patch and it runs completely fine now on ultra.

It's not that it's bad, it simply has nothing going for it. If at some point down the line it gets cool mods that won't work on 2011 Skyrim and some way of mass converting mods for it then I'll have a reason to play it. Until then I'm not interested in it at all.

I honestly believe Skyrim is a piece of shit and if it had Morrowind's graphics, no one would play it.

Better animations (objective) and combat (subjective) are nice, but Skyrim is a terrible game in almost every regard.

Every race has the same stats in Skyrim, but Altmer get an extra magicka bonus.

So you could say they really are the master race.

It really isn't just my opinion when every complaint leveled at Morrowind by Skyrim babies boils down to

- "old graphics"
- "i attack but my attack doesn't connect even though it does, wtf"

As I said, Skyrim is literally technology and nothing more. Skyrim brought down to 2002 technology standards would have made for an awesome expansion, but a shit standalone game.

Light armor is better for stealth because it's lighter and less noisy, except....

if you get the Steed perk then all armor has no weight, including heavy armor, so there's no reason for a stealth character to not use heavy armor if they get that perk, except...

there's an armor cap anyway, so any benefit of heavy armor over light soon becomes moot so it's essentially an aesthetic choice as long as you wear all of one type....

you're too hard on it bud, Skyrim is a good game, objectively

sure, there's a lot of content lacking both in the context of the other games (I can't even begin to list it all) and its own context (all the cool civil war shit you were supposed to be able to do).

Skyrim, however, capitalizes over the other games in a few ways.

>no matter where you are, a few steps away is something to look at, a cairn with potions and a dead body, a wizard at a table, a forgotten tower, a ruinous tomb, a lake with a chest at the bottom, not just laid out like pickups but positioned with some forethought
think of the skeleton in the bear trap, the lover's nest on the northern coast, the buried bodies in an avalanche- they did an awesome job of telling a story and making it pretty with every inch of the map

Even though the gameplay itself was absurdly shallow, just walking around turned out to be the most rewarding experience
