Picked up this '91 940 turbo this past weekend to compliment my 245.
I listed some cars for the owner of the bodyshop where it was parked. He was a Volvo dealer mechanic in the 80's so he knows bricks well and they have gravitated to him. He also had parts that he said I could keep half of what I sold them for, so I essentially got paid to take the car.
It runs great, just needs some front suspension work. Left strut is blown, and that side clunks pretty good; already ordered the parts, looking forward to throwing them on and enjoying the car.
This was when I first backed it out of its resting place for the last year or so.

The short trip to the shop I work at was uneventful.

Got lucky at the PnP with this car having the same headlight w/ fog set up despite the lens being cracked; better than nothing though!

Good thing it didn't look like this NA Miata...

Damn you asshole, I want a 740 or 940 to go with my 240 so bad. How's the paint on that? Looks like it could benefit from rubbing it out a bit.

kek, git gud bruh.
It absolutely needs a repaint. The parts you see that are matte are because the clear is completely gone. Its flaking still on the edges of the roof and trunk, the body however, is almost flawless, only a hand full of minor dents.
I'm cool with the painter from the body shop where I used to work and he's gonna hook me up when the time comes, as with my 245 and the other 245 I plan on flipping.
I still want to turbo my 245, but how could I pass up a less than free turbo car!?
Funny thing is, before I found this car I told myself, if I ever get a 900 series it would be a red turbo sedan, and there it was!
I already have the missing center caps for the Hydras from a car that I wanted to pull the set from, but couldn't justify the cost and how curbed they were, so I just took the caps.
Just placed an order with IPD, FCPeuro and Rockauto for some of the parts. Stoked to get moving on it.

In Sweden people buy these rwd volvos and use them as "winter cars", meaning they skid around and crash into snowdrifts, a guy I work with rolled 2 of them last winter. You can pick up a 240 or a 740 in working condition for 200-300 american dollars.
Luis Morgan
hater, nothing wrong with an auto
>rolled 2 cars in a year I thought swedes were supposed to be good drivers? Also lol I got my 240 fur 400 dollars, so pretty close.
Mason Clark
I'm a manual connoisseur myself good sir. Nothing a T5 swap cant take car of.
Jokes on them, this car cost me nothing. It's not much different here, I bought the 245 pictured (my first brick) for $500 over 4 years ago, a couple others under $1k; the last 245 I bought for $450. I definitely don't intend on flipping this one though lol
Brandon Flores
Thank god, im sorry i thought you were an autofag. Im glad you are bringing it back to life, happy skids m8!

>Hater, nothing wrong with an auto
Keep repeating that to yourself, you will end up believing it.
Carson Garcia
I own 4 cars and 3 are manual, but ok.
Daniel Gutierrez
But user, there's literally nothing wrong with an auto if you don't fool yourself into believing it's a superior driving experience.
Evan Foster
Not going to turn this thread into another manual vs. auto thread, lets enjoy Volvo power.
Ryan Lewis
I've never met anyone who keeps them only for winter use

Hhhnnnnggggg. I just gained an unhealthy desire to replicate this 242, wow.

Noice m8. I bombed my 245 through the woods on rough trails and mud when I first bought it. Was really surprised how well it did, ended up getting stuck on the way out though.
James Reed
Yeah I picked up a nice 940t for $900 a year a ago, its been good, but now the trans is starting to go. I found a rebuilt one already though. Nice find with the sunroof, 'hi-beams' & the hydra 17' (16'?) rims.
bruhh that wagon is sick, what are your plans fur it?
Luis Lewis
>barista in town has a Volvo wagon >it's missing trim from where she's run it into shit repeatedly >actually had the oil OFF THE STICK for a week You know how you see people treat their pets like shit and you just wish you could give it a better home?
Juan Sanders
Funny I'm a barista and own an 850 and im the complete oposite, I wish I had a bit more disposable income and time to put in my Volvo.
Leo Murphy
>dreams of entering the demolition derby circuit >set out into the world to find the most alpha derby car there >search high and low >finally... >there it is >a totally unassuming Volvo 850 >burgundy colored >prep it to meet regulations >show up for first time event >get laughed at right away by the other cars >big old cars from America >some have welded scary teeth on their bumpers >pull into the stadium and take my position >crowd is laughing at the Volvo 850, calling it "Soccer Mom and "Look at the massive faggot" >pay no fucks >derby starts >Volvo 850 keeps taking a pounding and giving them back >cars are failing all around me >finally down to my Volvo and some old Pontiac >literally lead the driver on, all over the arena >Pontiac eventually overheats and stalls >take a massive J pattern and loop back toward the Pontiac >t bone the piece of shit at 45mph >push the driver side door in about 8" >crowd goes wild >put the Volvo in reverse, camly back up, put it in drive and cruise out of the arena >mire trophy living room for all eternity
Damn man, that sucks. You really missed out on a clean wagon with some decent mods. Don't worry, there will be another.
Carson Ward
You live in Seattle don't you
Blake Turner
Look at the other photo He's got Maryland plates and the business he's parked behind has a mural that says Elkridge, he lives in the literal armpit of Maryland
Cameron Richardson
kek, I actually live in South Baltimore or "Federal Hill", the area is one of the few actually nice parts of the city. Anything just in or just outside of the city is a literal cesspool before you hit the burbs.
The bodyshop I got the car from is in Elkridge.

>tfw no brick Should I get a 240/derivative first or a pre-ODB Town Car? Will be car #3.
