Why don't more econoboxes use rwd?

Why don't more econoboxes use rwd?

FWD is more fuel efficient.

Why

why are you even here

>fewer moving parts, therefore cheaper to produce and maintain
>lower weight, therefore more fuel efficient
>harder to fuck up at the limit
>less of a shitfest in the snow
It's not an econobox if you make it needlessly expensive.

Fwd is cheaper

Because you don't have a 5 foot fucking steel rod you have to transmit power through

Cheaper to make and you don't need to make room for the drive shaft which gives you more room inside the car.

FWD is cheaper to engineer, build, run and maintain.

Because FWD is
>more power efficient (also meaning higher MPGs)
>cheaper/easier to manufacture
Two things that are econobox staples
