I think I may not fully understand DDA mutations. I had fully-mutated Arachnid Arms which meant I could put all my gear back on and not eat a 40 encumbrance penalty. But then I took an Insect Serum and it downgraded them back into Arachnid Limbs. I'm assuming it was pushing me further in the direction of Insect Limbs but A) that's a post-threshold mutation when I'm already post-threshold Spider and B) it doesn't look like Arachnid or Insect Limbs should be able to cancel Arachnid Arms.
That means there's something else I'm missing, clearly.

I think it tried to "evolve" you towards bad insect limbs.
There is a protection from this happening, but it looks like it only works for one step, so insect->arachnid is protected, but insect->arachnid->arachnid_ok isn't.
So the game sees that you don't have insect limbs or any of its evolutions and tries to move you back towards insect limbs.

I swear that is some kind of Chei only bug since penance isn't supposed to be that short. It happened to me too but I just ignored it thinking it was just my imagination

You have no obligation to like it, just don't pretend that respecting the original game's spirit (simplicity and expecting player adaptability) somehow lowers a roguelike's quality.
I remember an Ely penance that took me 2 Vault floors worth to clear. Are these bugs? Since I don't think a penance is supposed to go away in a single kill or so
Penance is counted in hostile god actions, not kills

Yeah, that seems reasonable. I can just go get a few more spider eggs if it happens again so it's not a big deal.
In other mutation-related news, hooves are real inconvenient in winter. I'd been relying on thermal-electrics so far to keep warm but that's obviously not an option any more. Gotta make some fur wraps and rely on internal climate control until then. Also, it's a bit disappointing that ICC doesn't help with cold-blooded. That might be beyond the scope of the game code but it seems to me it should do something about it.

They can spawn in Vikhor's sanctum. They're easier to nab there because they usually show up with echeneis, which are popcorn by that point.

So after stripping down a humvee and significantly altering and up-armoring my flatbed truck I mounted a prize Mark 19 grenade launcher to the roof. Awesome, finally some portable heavy firepower. Then I got back to base, picked up my 40mm grenades, and realized it hadn't come with a magazine.
What are the odds of me realistically ever finding a specific weapon mag on its own? I'm gonna go hit up a few military bases and road blocks I've spotted but I'm not feeling all that confident.
The Hand and Mask ones don't really give any indication to the wraith's goals like the other descriptions.
What is this wraith stuff? A mod? Fanart? Why are they level 1?
It takes an ammunition belt. I have no idea if you can craft one. Probably your best bet is to look for more humvees and hope one has one you can unload.

you'll probably only fight your previous ghosts if your playing offline since then it can only pick ghosts saved locally. I remember somewhere on the forums ferret saying that wraiths are meant to be like hidden challenge encounter that can only really spawn by using a trouble chime or some special chime, although more will probably be revealed in the next devblog.

Just wasted all six revolver rounds on fucker with machete, I should have waited for him to get closer, so I could drop him with one shot, at least got motorbike helmet from him, not a scratch + the machete. there are two other NPCs, I wonder if they will be such dicks.
And it's just me or generic gun mod makes it harder to find guns at shops? So far I got primers, gunpowder, tools and mods, but no actual gun yet. The revolver was found in house.
