See what your dps is on a dummy. Nidhogg isn't a great fight for SMN, especially if you'd never done it before.
I'm pretty new to SMN and can hit 1650 on a dummy, but rarely do that in actual content cause I suck at managing it with the mechanics.

Keep up shadow flare and dots, clip dots between server ticks, use Ruin II for weaving oGCDs, then other shit that doesn't apply to me for 4 levels.

Almost every "PS3 limitation" is related to the game's UI. Everything else that would theoretically be held back by the PS3 is held back much moreso by the size and speed of the game's development team, and everything that people imagine "can be done now that the PS3 isn't holding them back" will still be absent from the game due to design philosophy rather than technical limitations.

I know, I was thinking about how as leveling SMN you have to save your bursts for the sable prices and add phase so it's hard to get a ton of damage in on the boss. Although if he was only doing 400 dps overall, then I don't know.

Probably a lot of other underlying data structures as well. I'd be totally unsurprised if current inventory restrictions were a product of PS3 limitations. On paper, it might not seem like a big deal to upgrade armory chest slots from 25 per category to N. On the contrary, that is probably a major undertaking that requires totally rebuilding a lot of data structures from the ground up.
As an example, making a similar change in EverQuest was the pet project of the lead programmer. It took him several years and required him to untangle miles of spaghetti code. In fact, he had to all but rebuild the entire game engine to make it happen because it was connected to such vital data structures that the whole system was dependent on.
