You need either someone with suit sensors on + CMC to calculate the Z-level offset, or calculate it manually by finding the thing you want to find in the first place.
What you can do however is just do a sweep search at the approximate coordinates and you usually find it right away, but it's really shitty to try to do it without a jetpack.

By the way even back when there was no Z-level offsets nobody ever got banned for metagaming coords
