>driving in the winter

This full 360s master race

>tfw bought a rust free 93 Cherokee Saturday, perfect body, you could eat off the underside of the footwells
> realize it's intended for my niece back in Indiana
> I'm going to send a perfect rust free jeep to get ruined in the heart of the rust belt

Feels bad man

>old jews and cubans
Sup raylan

...

>not hibernating your summer runners
The rust levels have reached maximum density. I must retreat for now.

tfw my car won't probably survive this winter

>mfw live in California

Warm humid salt air...perfect for rust.

Our vehicles still last a lot longer than northern cars.

Stay ass mad

>live in beach city
Fuck off, Steven

It should get cold enough there to the point where the salt doesn't do anything. Just don't garage your car

Nope. I hade a 71 Ford galaxy from Florida. You could poke a screwdriver through the rusty frame.

inb4 your car is stolen by mexicans

Could happen, but the Mexicans and niggers mostly stay in their respective ghettos where I live.

Dixiebro

I know this feel

>tfw jew york

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT

I lived in Australia all my life, can someone please explain what rust season is?

Winter. A lot of states use salt to clear the road of ice.

The only way to slow down rust cancer from consuming your car is use sealants and/or wash the car frequently in the winter.

>Rust
How old are your shitboxes?
My car stands 24/7 outside for years. We have all kinds of weather. Snow doesnt change anything.
Nor salty roads, which I'm glad that these are salty. Unless you wanna die as soon as you try to break.
Not 1 single rust spot on the car. Didnt see any on others except old shitboxes

>complaining about rust
>not wanting the weight loss for faster shitbox
Stay pleb

>driving down the highway in the rain
>slow to my turn
>loud knocking sounds coming from the back
>panic
>strut/shock totally rusted out

Few more days in the shop... $400~.

>tfw was just about to sell the car this week

>not having a second car to not give a shit about

Relativelly new cars rust more than a 80-90s zync coated Audi

It's zinc, it's also galvanized metal you're talking about. In 80-90's there was a gold standard found for VAG panels, the paint was top quality too. Around 00's there was a new EU-standard for how much zinc-content you can have in galvanized sheet metal. This new limit was for both sheet metal in construction as well as automotive, you can't even store unpainted/uncoated galvanized sheet metal in an outdoor storage anymore because it will start to rust.

IF you're looking for a semi-nice, cheap and easy to work on car that you don't want to rust away in your climate, a B5 made in Germany is a very good investment still today, as long as you remember to wash and wax it every now and then.

t. eurofag metal-pro

>B5
>the point where Audi's quality started going downhill
No thanks

>be living in Ontario GTA
>buy grandma's 07 honda fit
>100 000 km and only had to put on new front sway bar links
>first time car is on hoist
>first look at rusty sub frame
Mechanic besides me just sighs and says too bad
So I went to crappy tire to get a can of rust check and sprayed everything.

mechanic who did the safety recommended using the rust check paint/converter stuff in the gray can but I'm afraid it will continue to rust under the paint what do?

Pic is my stock struts amd it pretty much continues like this under the rest of the car

get the underside rust proofed and get a good wax on it.. it will help for a year tops but afterwards its fucked unless you keep up

t. Canadian

bro all cars that are 8 years or older in canada have rust like that its no biggie

also its a fit, so don't stress for the little bit of rust that is on there... some cars are meant to be used and then thrown away.

but spraying with rust check was a good call, if it rusts under it will rust anyways. Anything that will ward off moisture and coat from air will slow it down

consider an oil undercoat, about 80-100$ in Ottawa and does a good job warding off the salt and slush from the underside. needs to be done every year but that and regular waxing does a good job at keeping a car rust free (or almost rust free)

damn it

what steps can be taken to prevent this? i feel this snow season in colorado will be fucking horrible

You both mentioned waxing, are you guys talking about waxing the paint or is there something specific for the underbody, rocker panels etc?
