It's long and it's so popular that someone will "eventually" translate it, which then leads to no one bothering to translate it. Moege and nukige are also far more profitable for official localizers to translate, not to mention the license for Eustia would probably cost a lot.
Asher Allen
Should I buy CoroBlo vol.1 or Higurashi vol.2 (Haven't finished Higurashi vol.1)

Buy Fata Morgana instead

I've forgotten how old/poorly drawn the sprites are.

Henry Foster
For as old as Saya no Uta is, it's aged decently. Not nearly as bad as some of the other stuff in that era
Ian Phillips
She's objectively worst girl and has no appeal. At most she's an inferior sion. No one actually picked her route and like it, right? Nasu or whoever wrote Rani really missed the target with this character.
I don't have anything against dark skin, flat chest, or revealing clothing, but it's somehow ruined by her monotonous personality and forehead.
Aiden Ortiz
I obviously chose the superior Rin route and never touched the game again.
Jordan Baker
Still better than Rin.
Parker Brooks
They could have at least drawn her CGs decently. What were they thinking? I still don't know if her hair color is blue or a dark shade of green.
And yeah, despite its age, the VN stays relevant and popular even to this year.
Alexander Murphy
But Rin's advice literally saved the MC, without her the player would have easily died in the early rounds.
Ayden Diaz
That ending

everything about Vanilla Extra was shit and it's Nasu at his worst. i really have no idea what he was doing.
it's terribly unfun as a game, too. i'm guessing most people play it on a emulator these days, but when i first played it, it was on the PSP and i didn't have access to frame-skipping and what not. what a fucking chore. at least when i decided to read CCC emulation was around, and Gil basically made the gameplay a breeze.
CCC should have just been a regular visual novel, though. there was almost no benefits to presenting it in the gameplay format.
>I still don't know if her hair color is blue or a dark shade of green. that's really common in CGs, though. artists always like to get stylistic with lighting and other things, so colors are always inconsistent.
sprites are the golden reference for colors, not the CG.
Kayden Wood
>Urobuchi He hasn't done shit lately besides that chink/gook puppet show thing. I really respect the Butcher for bringing SnU and Kikokugai to the public but he has really fallen behind in being relevant. At most people slap his name unto shit like psychopass and gargantia to generate publicity. Not to say that Nasu is much better these days.
Lucas Walker
saya no uta is probably the most overrated shit VN out there.
Elijah Lopez
No, that's Steins;gate and Katawa Shoujo. SnU's fanbase isn't as large
Parker Gonzalez
Madoka Magica > F/Z > Saya no Uta
Asher Russell
People like Steins;Gate? The VN, not the anime.
I hate both, personally.
Thomas Phillips
>People like Steins;Gate? The VN, not the anime. Of course. Every single visual novel thread on /v/ is crawling with people claiming it as their favorite visual novel, it's also one of the most popularly rated visual novels in the West AND in Japan, with very high vndb and EGS scores.
Its popularity cannot be denied, even if its quality can.
Juan Barnes
Madoka Magica > F/Z > Saya no Uta >FSN
Watch Thunderbolt Fantasy, it's great and another big success under Urobuchi's name.
Tyler Moore
So does anyone know or care about Chaos;Head or Robotic;Notes by comparison
Connor Lopez
;_;
Julian Richardson
Both of those are, in comparison, not nearly as popular nor as well received.
Chaos;Child gives Steins;Gate some competition in terms of critical success, but I'm not sure if it's as popular. I don't think it is.
Ryder Jackson
...
Blake Barnes
Not the right place to discuss, but all I'll say is I'm surprised how favorably Madoka is still viewed and how, being a smash hit and all, they have still just left Rebellion hanging as if it's the end
Also, F/Z > FSN? Really?
Owen Jackson
MYTH TORRENT WHEN?
Daniel Moore
>Also, F/Z > FSN? Really? I'll agree with that opinion. Even if F/Z isn't as thematically interesting as F/SN (nor as complex in terms of some of the developments in regards to the characters), I still enjoyed reading it more than I did with F/SN. I responded more to the largely adult cast, the more convincing and grandiose war, and the near absence of annoying SOL. Granted, there was still some redundant SOL scenes in F/Z, but they weren't as irritating to me.
I like both, though.
Michael Young
Who the fuck do you think you are, using that inoffensive tone? We only deal in hyperbole here, faggot. Either it's god-tier, or it's total shit.
David Mitchell
Yeah? F/Z is objectively superior to FSN, there's a larger cast with clearer motivations and tragedies, hell Gilgamesh and Kotomine are much better fleshed out, better and more fights between servants, and their powers are used in a more vreative way, like Saber using Invisible Wind to propel herself, the way she uses her riding skill, the way Berserker uses his powers, Gilgamesh taking more stuff from his GoB than just weapons, the characters are adults and not kids that take way too many dumb decisions, more memorable scenes and lines. Honestly I can't even imagine how someone can say FSN is superior to Zero in any way, guess they really are into their waifus or something.
Easton Gomez

Justin Long
Himawari maybe
Adrian Barnes
>grisaia >kamige pick one
Adam Sanchez
spoilers man
Nicholas Ramirez
I don't like Fate/Zero over Fate/Stay Night not because it's written better, but because it's so restless with its dark tone (not edginess).
Maybe it's different for others, but I came to appreciate all the lighthearted fluff and humor in FSN after going through F/Z. Before, I viewed that all in disdain.
Jayden Sullivan
>the characters are adults and not kids that take way too many dumb decisions Haha what? The point of F/Z was that all of the "adults" are tunnel visioned mental children. FSN is about their largely more mature children cleaning up the mess. Why is it that everyone who prefers it over F/SN doesn't even understand what it was about? Is this the power of secondaries?
Bentley Adams
What does /vn/ think of Muv-Luv Alternative?
Carter Edwards
Thank you for fixing the OP.
Dracu-Riot is pretty damn good. Does Noble Works have the same quality of writing, or is it just a standard moege? I'm tempted to read it now, but I'm worried the pain of that red-headed bro girl not having a route will make the experience unenjoyable.
Easton Powell
It's actually not a kamige. It's mediocre at best.
Juan Moore
Why is Alternative the only good thing to come out of that franchise? Everything else from Extra and Unlimited to the spinoffs have been literal shit.
John Diaz
Basically all Yuzusoft VNs are relatively similar in quality, so if you liked one, you'll probably like their other stuff
Jose Allen
That's encouraging. What's lame is Dracu-Riot and Noble Works are the only ones in English...
Jaxson Richardson
They're pretty equal but I'd say noble works is better overall, honestly.
Thomas Stewart
Why do you say that? I know nothing about Noble Works beyond what I've heard here, but I think it'd be hard for a moege to top Dracu-Riot.
The merits of Dracu Riot are in a diverse range of characters who are all very interesting and plot-important, with the exception of Naota. In particular, Miu and Elina were beyond adorable, and their mature attitudes towards sex and life were very enjoyable to read.
On top of that, it had a very intriguing premise - the vampire life and lore, the criminal investigations as a running theme and even the chuuni superpower stuff.
Of course, it's not exactly another Rewrite or Steins;Gate, but what it was, was comfy to read.
I'm open to Noble Works blowing my mind, but I'm skeptical.
Joseph Torres
How does one become a JOP?
Daniel Davis
I liked the characters in Noble Works more, and they handled the premise a lot better and managed to use it for comedy stuff reasonably well throughout the game. I found the vampire stuff pretty boring and they barely did anything with it.
>Hey, you've become part of a secret squad of vampire police >I hope you enjoy attending a regular high school and engaging in formulaic antics (except at NIGHT, wow what a DIFFERENCE)
It's an interesting premise that they shove aside for bog-standard moege hijinks. AKA almost all moege.
Honestly though, I think the biggest problem is that the games are too similar and I'm playing them too close together. Dracu-riot is just basically more of the same. You'll probably end up liking whichever you play first more because it's new, but once you play more of them and start to see the formula they lose interest pretty rapidly.
Ryan Scott
I agree they didn't do a lot with the vampire stuff, and that it was shoved aside for the purposes of a typical moege. They could have done more with it, although the Miu route was satisfactory.
If Noble Works is more of the same, it sounds like its characters will make or break the game. Hope it's got some heroines as hot as Miu and Elina.

Fata Morgana is kamige yet people barely talk about it. This is why localization companies should give up on good games and release only moege and nukige, it's what sells and what people want and play.
