It's such a bizarre concept, too. I'm not american, so the only ones I recognize are Cruz and Trump and I wouldn't date either, even ironically.
Hunter Long
You need to step up your game on /pol/ memes, this trailer is full of them
Leo Hall
I'm all for vns where you can date older guys but these dudes are way too old. Not that I recognize anyone but Trump either.
Brody Brooks

At least they chose Adryn as the sprite artist, who is at least somewhat capable of drawing older guys.

Is anyone even making plain old non-"""""humorous""""" non-pure-eroge dating sims these days? Without SJW pandering, wacky fetishes, deep dark psychological themes, """engaging""" mystery storylines and oh so original fantasy/sci-fi "but wait there's a twist" settings? And if you say "AJTilley", I'll punch you.
Oliver King
>Without SJW pandering, wacky fetishes, deep dark psychological themes, """engaging""" mystery storylines and oh so original fantasy/sci-fi "but wait there's a twist" settings
so... you want a slice of life dating sim set in a japanese high school?
Kayden Sullivan
No, let japanese high schools stay in JVNs. I want a comfy game that plays on strengths of the medium (i.e. lets me bond with pretend animu 2d friends), isn't pretentious or trying to poke fun at something and doesn't try to do 20 different things at once. At this point I'd have to wait 3000 years until Wurzel's game is released if I want to play something like this, or make one myself.
Colton Thomas
You want Persona without the dungeon crawling? FE: Fates without the battlefield?
Carson Ortiz
Not him but this. Start a day, interact with one or two out of half a dozen characters throughout the day. Nothing out of the ordinary. You don't have to fuck or bad end with anyone. Bro simulator.
Isaiah Bell
basically but with more depth to the characters storylines
Logan Rogers
Is anyone actually willing to take thirty seconds to look at what people are doing before making sweeping pronouncements about the fate of the industry?
Cameron Carter
and what are people doing?
Ian Clark
Not you, apparently.

>otomeshit >porn >porn >BL (but it mitebcool, I guess) >porn >looks idiotic >dumb gameplay, go be winterwolves somewhere else >never gonna finish it >fantasy bullshit by a flake dev >yuri, more yuri, some more yuri >oh look a shit """mystery""" >and another one >eh, horror >Tao, pls can't see shit capm whoever guesses even 5 of them gets a lolly

That's why we need evn with cute traps.

I can't believe we're getting like six and over half of them look like they'll be shit.

What happened to that monster lover game. I haven't been to these threads in months.
Austin Thomas

My artist has been busy as fuck (there's only two cgs left to be done, though) and I've been banging my head against the wall with voice acting. I also went to a videogame event in my country, and the guy in charge of the creative industries fund basically said that as long as the game doesn't suck, we'll have an spot in the Tokyo Game Show next year (along with other mexican devs).
The upside to the whole delay is that I got a new, better paid job in the meantime, so the game ended up having a rather larger voice acting budget as a result. Right now I'm crunching numbers to see if I can get my dream cast on board.
Tyler Diaz
>can't receive the bern's wrinkly dick What a waste
Daniel Robinson
>we'll have an spot in the Tokyo Game Show next year (along with other mexican devs) that's cool as FUCK
Christopher Lee
Yeah, a small group went this year, and he said they were impressed at how much people actually play visual novels. Honestly, it didn't occur to me to apply this year because I don't get along that well with the local scene.
Juan Ramirez
Decided to play an actual EVN, so I downloaded Lost Girl's [Diary] because it looked less shitty than the other free ones.
It's a bit clunky, but the artist did a nice job on the expressive sprites for these "meet-heads".
Bentley Robinson
I'll just leave this here.
Henry Anderson
They didn't make Megyn hot enough.
Hudson Gray
No one is actually hot. Except maybe Rubio.
Angel Jackson
Well, I wouldn't expect the men to be hot. Surely the appeal is that they are powerful, cruel, and ugly

Why do you guys hate mystery evns? Are they all shit or just overdone or both?
Colton Anderson
Yeah, sure. What about it?
Dominic Miller
I meant the hand on the waist seeming real small compared to the face
Christopher Peterson
Ever since the golden age of detective fiction, there have been a ton of hacks writing garbage mysteries. Combine that with weebs who probably only read Umineko, or, Heaven forbid, consider things like PW and Zero Escape mysteries, and you end up with a bunch of garbage "mystery" [E]VNs.
Owen Brown
cupid was amazing, lucid9 is apparently boring but i haven't played it, break chance memento was awful and had nothing to do with the mystery for 90% of the game, and the jisei series is apparently poorly written.
the rest fall more into another genre than mystery

Adam Cruz
>we'll have an spot in the Tokyo Game Show How would that work, exactly? Would you have a screen up where people could play a demo of a VN? If so I imagine not many would since they'd just have to stand there and read, plus the language barrier and all would mean few actually would be able to read it.
Juan Flores
>I don't get along that well with the local scene. gib drama pls
Connor Thomas
>the language barrier and all would mean few actually would be able to read it can't quite a lot of them read at least some english? they just speak it badly?
Bentley Ortiz
other way around i think. they speak it well but hide it
Michael Flores
Alright, that was pretty fun, and a fair value at the price of free. I'd recommend it, with the caveat that it's a very unpolished translation. Any recommendations for another EVN?
Bentley Lopez
Apparently the dating sim section had people lining up to do exactly that. Since the fund pays for everything except for plane tickets, I'd most likely translate the game to japanese by then.
Well, for one, one of the bigger national publishers was supposed to pick the game up - the pitch actually won the first prize at last year's national developers competition. But then neither me nor the guy who won second place heard anything from the publisher... not even a rejection letter. Apparently the organizers of the competition were furious about this, since one of the judges told me that if they came offering to publish me now, I should tell them to go to hell.
The competition itself was kind of unsavory, since most of the comments from other devs were rather patronizing about the fact that it was a visual novel (which I was expecting) and me being one of the few women there (which I wasn't). The judges themselves were far nicer, and their comments were pretty much concerns about how to market the game.
Overall, none of the people are actually rude, but whenever we meet at events and the like the conversation is almost never about the game and more about me "being a WOMAN who's making a GAY game about MONSTERS".
I understand it can't all be business, but for every conversation I have about the process of devving/what we've done since we last met, I have about three about "what's like being a woman in the scene".
Luis Rivera
>tfw WHITE WOMAN making a GAY game about BROWN LESBIANS Welp least I know what I'm in for now, thank you. I'll be rooting for your success.
Isaiah Hernandez
wow i thought that stuff was reserved for women in the TRIPLE AYY GAYME industry, not something as niche as.... mexican visual novels.
Matthew Collins
>the fund pays for everything What is the name of this fund and how can I get my foot in the door? Do I have to be a mexican?

>That feel when you see someone call their game a dating sim but it's not a dating sim in any way, shape or form.
Noah Johnson
Yeah, or at the very least, have an established company in mexico.
I assume it's worse in the AAA level, since as an indie I could realistically just tell anyone I don't like to fuck off if it came down to it.
Elijah Perry
>That feel when you see someone call their game a dating sim

Knew you were white. Didn't know you were a woman though. Why brown? Fetish?
Ian Flores
In descending order of gaminess:
>Game with a mini-VN attached. >VN with a minigame attached. >VN with systems beyond CYOA. >VN with multiple endings. >KN. >A book.
Camden Myers
We should collab and make the interracial evn of people's dreams. >Why brown? I just find it much more visually appealing in terms of design. I suppose you could call it a fetish in that regard.
Luke Martinez
did someone say collab
do you guys need ideas? I have plenty of them!
