How hard would it be to strip and redo the interior on this model neon. I know it's super overkill for a piece of shit but work with the hypothetical.
How hard would it be to strip and redo the interior on this model neon...
About the same as any other mid 90s compact
Which is? I have never done an interior rebuild.
If it's your first time ballpark figure at least 8 hours, what exactly are you doing?
If you have replacements for everything already on hand and it's just a matter of removing and replacing, you could probably get it done in a day. Never done it myself, but I've ripped a fair amount of interior out and put it back when I did my own sound system. Not that bad if you don't care about breaking shit on the way out.
I have one that wouldn't be bad if it didn't wreak of catpiss and stains. Figured I'd redo the interior and give it to my niece as her first POS. She's 10 now so I have ~7 years to do it. I also want expierence on interior shit as I haven't done one yet. Figured a POS that I won't care about and is cheap would get me started.
>I have 7 years to do it
Fuck, you better get started right away, then! No time to lose!

Please tell me you're the cool uncle and giving her a manual neon, and not the dickhead giving her a 3 speed slush box that kills any possible performance from the engine
me
> not me
She seriously doesn't care, and if she does care at 15, I will do a tranny swap. But unless she bitches, it'll be shitbox 3speed. I might MIGHT put a tarbo in there that way she can ACTUALLY spin the tires on that bitch.
>Non-SRT Neon
>Performance
They are shitty cars but the SOHC (2.0L) was well know to be fun in the turns though. Although the Neon I will be restoring is a POS but I figured for a free car, it'll do. I'll probably yank the starter relay and tell her if she can fix it (acting like something is broken), she can have it.
NA 2.4Ls respond well to bolt-ons and head work, same with the 2.0 DOHCs
Would a small supercharger be a better investment than a turbo?
I've heard of people putting Eaton M90s on them, but it's probably.going to.cost more to get the super to fit.rather than the turbo
It will probably take about 15 min.
Fuck it. I'll just cut a hole in the hood
Use question marks, you illiterate fuck.
MY BAD! I didn't know that I was on Veeky Forums.
Neons.org actually recommends removing the black weatherstripping/seal at the rear of the hood to allow more air for lower temps
>>seeing this post makes me want an ACR
>tfw no swapped built and boosted Stratus 2.4L 1sr gen coupe
Looks nice
Yeah, shame it's not mine
Not really man. Neon's are pretty shit tier cars.
Meh, to each their own
I have plenty experience with Neons, Civics, Corollas, Cavies, etc and while the Neon gets a bad rep for being a Dodge, in actuality it's pretty solid of you don't neglect them like the usual owners do and the manuals are the reliable ones
My 3speed has held up better than any Chrysler product I know. 250,000 miles and It still is like new.
Soulless abominations those 3 speeds
Best automatic transmission I've ever used though. When you slam on the gas, it doesn't look into a box of gears and try to find one. It always goes into second gear.
God forbid you drive long distance with that thing, they were geared horribly, at least my gfs 2000 Neon was, definitely more of an around town kind of trans
Went to Louisiana and back to Texas (350mi) often. Held up well.
there are no manual 2 door first gens in ohio :c
I'm not saying it won't hold up and fall apart, I just couldn't stand how high the engine was revving and knew it was due to the 3spd, I wish Chrysler had used the tranny from the Stratus instead but I've heard they had problems
Honestly, my windows weren't sealed properly so it was more wind than engine.
