Given the number and complexity of barriers to reducing poverty and inequality on the continent of Africa are there any 'real' viable solutions that can achieve economic change in this region?

In the year 2100 7 out of 10 of the Worlds largest Cities will be in Africa.
Even the merest attempt to build a proper economy that is not based on extraction in many of these places will create some strong growth, though inequality will intensify if anything. I mean imagine Kinshasa (as a mega city) with a population of over 80 million. One City with a population larger than the most populated European country (barring Russia)

A topic like this cannot exist outside of /pol/, because your definition of 'real', doesn't exist in the physical world. You are essentially looking for a spiritual solution to a problem that requires extreme violence. You are praying for a some mystical liberal force to guide your car away from danger instead of taking the wheel.
The solution is already happening. As African countries open their markets and economies to foreign investment, slowly, like snails pace they will get "richer".
That's the best we can get realistically. Quite simply there is no political will among the wealthy countries to offer debt relief while also forcing governments to be transparent and obey rule of law.
It's compounded by history showing us that if you topple a dictator one of two things happen;
1. another dictator takes the same power structure and is just as corrupt as before
or:
2. factionalism and the disintegration of a state like in Libya, Syria, the DPR Congo

The average European consumes 20 times as much on a land mass less than a 5th of Africas and we get on just fine.
You cant just cull poor people to eliminate poverty - you just have to find a way to get them to work.
The rate of population is the problem.
If the % change in population is greater than that of GDP then there's a huge unsustainable problem.

There is this young labour force there just waiting to be exploi.... put to work. There just needs be some stability. Look at Botswana (minus the aids thing) as a way things can go sort of ok.

We are looking for economic solutions to the development of large economies in a region where the money supply and business capital do not match the labor pool or the current markets
