hey I just got the beta invite, I signed up on a whim a few months ago and didn't expect to actually get in hah! I never played the wtich man series, can someone tl;dr the story?

You don't need to know the story to play Gwent, there is no way you will recognize most of the characters without excessive book and game knowledge anyway, so best approach it as a card game only. You can also check out the games or the books if you get interested.

Blood and Wine is nostalgic as fuck if you read the books, but HoS is definitely the better gaming experience.

My Gwent game seems to be running at twice the regular speed, audio sounds very sped up, there is crackling and the UI for playing cards seems oddly fast as well. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Well, you already have Eredin as the starting Monster lord, so it boils down to what army you wanna play - North or Skellige. Both are very good in their respective decks.

So, what's the best deck against monster's ?

Scoiatel can set traps and neutralize special cards.
NR can buff a unit, use adrenaline rush and make it golden after the idiot from the monster deck puts Ciri+Eredin and passes.
Skellige is good overall.

There is a little square at the bottom of every card.
White/silver= common. 30 scraps to craft.
Blue= uncommon. 80 scraps
Purple= epic. 200
Gold = legendary. 800 scraps

playing more than 1 faction, will give you more insight into how that faction operates against other match-ups, thus giving you a larger pool of options and play-styles.
