Reinhardt is very difficult to use on gold because they often just ignore the shield.

You can plant yourself on the chokepoint completely stationary and they'll go right through it to fight further down and if you follow them, you obviously get overwhelmed.

There's a window when you're hit with the dart you can't be woken up by anything yet so to actually give people a moment to stop shooting you and waking you up accidentally, you probably get hit during part of that. It's not perfect but it's already an extremely broken CC as it is. And I'll glad say it's like Ana has two ults to be honest, I win so many games because of sleep dart...and lose them too.
