if there's a lot of unexplored shit on the level or if you were doing loud shit like fireball/meph/qazlal you may want to head up before resting.
You should ensure that there is a safe, straight-line path to the stairs though. Don't walk past any unexplored terrain while you're low hp.

Just a random thing that came to mind that works differently from other bands, spellcasters don't need books in Furyband (some more outlandish classes need some implements though), and the sorcerer class that can level all spells schools with one skill that also decreases your max hp has to put one skillpoint into the spell schools themselves to unlock them because it works in a kind of a fucky way.

if you want something you can actually get, M&F is probably the go-to for the solid low-skill 1h weapons
