Why does it matter if someone makes a new thread 10 posts early? or even 50? Posts aren't a finite resource. It should be fine to just make a new thread whenever the old one is about to die, not having a iron-clad law about how you have to wait until 750.
If you do it at like 400 posts or something than yea it's pretty stupid but making a new thread at like 700 posts isn't going to hurt anyone.

It's personal preference but having it close to the train station is good if you're planning on selling lots of turnips. I don't do nips that often so for me anywhere it's not blocking other buildings is fine.

If you let people in your town to sell perfect fruit or turnips, that is an excellent spot for Re-Tail. Otherwise, it's up to you. If you beetle hunt a lot, you may want Re-Tail by the docks, but by the train station really isn't too bad.

Just chiming in because I end up making 1-2 generals a day for two other games.
When you cause clutter on the board because someone opens up a general 100 post / 50 post early / lets threads dies / post in multiple generals for the same game you dilute the "community" cause threads to die, cause people to say "fuck it not gonna post in either thread"
It is weird but for some reason people let threads die more often, shitpost, spampost, when duplicate generals are made and creating a thread early leads to dup threads.

If no one cares or notices then the old thread dies as normal and the new one continues as normal.
I don't think it happens in this general but I have years of experience of this happening in others, to the point that when this does happen, the people who get upset about early threads specifically keep on bumping the old thread to the front page just to get the mods attention so they can be vindicated when both threads are made and cause a mess of everything.
