It kind of seems like purple invaders should be able to interact with enemy monsters in invasions. That would make sense as a wildcard summon wouldn't it. I know I'm late to the party on this one but it's still a letdown..

I just really like the idea of being able to invade and force yourself onto someone as an ally...or enemy. I guess I could always help a host kill reds but meh.

Is this bait? A shield doesn't make you immune, you still need protection against bashing. The sword arm needs to be agile. Go check some actual armor. The left arm is always equally if not more armored than the right. It's not just a matter of weight, armor just doesn't allow as extensive movement

The Mirdan hammer in Demon's was the hammer side to the enemy.
I think the intention here was to make a galberd that inflicts thrust damage.

Reminder that the main fuckup with purple summons is that the purple gets NO reward if the host makes it to the boss fog. You have zero reason to summon a grape or trust a grape because they're heavily incentivized to backstab you if you don't get invaded by a dark spirit.

You have to admit though, From does medieval Europe a hundred times better than most other Nip RPGs - and even a great deal of western RPGs. As you and points out, a lot of the armour is impractical or would have been tournament stuff in the real world, but I'll take a single Dark Souls armour set that even slightly resembles a real life set of armour (with stuff like asymetrically armoured arms, closed helms and surcoats) over a hundred shitty World of Warcraft or generic RPG armour sets with inch thick metal, giant pauldrons and nothing but open face helmets.

I've got about 430 on my man serpent hatchet but it's a bit of an odd case since it's classed as an axe type weapon but has the shotel effect. Or is supposed to anyway, I'm not even sure how the shotel effect is supposed to work and the few times I've tried looking it up didn't yield any informative results. It's also a faith build so I don't know how that would translate into other builds at all.

Blatantly false, medieval plate armor was deliberately made to have more range of movement than the human body, specifically to not hinder the wearer. You can't afford to restrict movement in warfare.
The main issues with armor were heat (though not -as- bad as to "cook" the person wearing it as weebs would have you believe), vision (this is why a lot of visors on the more popular helmets in history are liftable if not outright removable), and ability to hear.

Shotels ignored 50% of shield damage reduction in DaS2.
They ignore like 10% in DaS3 so the shotel effect is mostly useless.

Reminder that DaS3 pvp and co-op is total shit as the PVE is trivial and any pvp incentive is ruined by the fact that invasions are total shit due to the PVE being even more trivial with summons.

They're still fucking miles away from something like Witcher 3.

As an addendum, most of the armor tropes like restricted movement and armored shield arms stem from jousting armor, where you're basically strapped to your horse in a borderline immobile state and the armor has to minimize potential damage from having a lance crash into you as much as possible. The reason you armor the shield arm in a joust is because you don't use a shield the same way as in warfare; "blocking" is something you avoid as much as possible in warfare, you use the shield to parry, to divert force, not to absorb it as it would in a joust.

Yhorm lived in the Profaned Capital, even if he wasn't originally from there, which is canonically beneath Irithyll. They're in the same place, even before the lands converged (as Sulyvahn discovered the Profaned Capital a long time ago). So either no, no Lord of Cinder was from Drangleic, or if the Profaned Capital *is* part of Drangleic then that means Drangleic and Lordran *are* the same place, or at least overlap.

a fully armored limb is going to both move slower and become fatigued twice as fast, and when you think about it your sword arm is going to be moving the most out of all your limbs

Wrong. Your shield is your right hand's shield.
That being said, you can certainly parry with the sword while going for a strike with the edge of the shield.
You do know the wild overly telegraphed attack animations in Dark Souls where your shield arm points behind your back for no reason isn't realistic, right?

This was a thing in 1 and 2. Scaled enemies like Man-Serpents took much lower damage from slashing weapons, and in 2 the sheer amount of heavily armored knight enemies meant that weapons like the Mace tore through PvE with greater ease than swords.

I haven't noticed anything in 3 besides certain enemies being weak to fire or lightning.

Hammers were pretty decent in DaS1 pve, Reinforced Club wrecked anus
Hammers kicked ass in DaS2 pve, especially dual wielded
Tonitrus and Bloodletter untricked do ungodly damage in BB
Hammers are really fucking good in PvE and decent in PvP in DaS3

But katanas? Katanas are generally mediocre in PvE
Using a katana in DaS1 is suffering
Katanas break quickly in DaS2
Are just underwhelming in general in DaS3

At least DaS1 had the decency to recolor the newbie hollows into CRYSTAL HOLLOWS to explain why they suddenly deal 20 times more damage. 2 had them not be hollow in the Memories, but living humans, which is questionable but at least still different.
DaS3 is such a hackjob with borderline MMORPG tier design decisions like arbitrarily stronger versions of the exact same enemy.

I'm doing my first playthrough and I';m really regretting pumping str for the greatsword, it's so fucking slow and if you're not 100% accurate with your swings it goes straight through enemies.

I think DS3 has spoiled me with "corner cuts" on my large weapons, specially with 1.08 greatswords.

I just feel like I made a massive mistake pumping souls and stat investment for this shit weapon and would of been better off running a 1h weapon + greatshield or even a dumbass estoc.

True. I'd dare say Witcher 3 is the best medieval Europe RPG in terms of clothing and armour. I'd love if Dark Souls had more non-armour sets that aren't 'fancy dress,' 'fancy robes' and 'big trench coat.' I need some peasant tunics, tight breeches and caps, man.

I understand the Propaned Capital being Eleum Loyce thing but it still sits oddly with me. Given that it's an underground city some way below Anor Londo, it makes the most sense (to me at least) that it's built on the ruins of New Londo.

Yeah, its just that from my experiences (mostly irl) people keep parroting stuff this guy says as gospel in any sort of historical combat context, even saw an invader the other day with the guy's nickname.

DaS1 had the total rape-tier Torch Hollows when you return to the Asylum.

Demon's Souls makes the soldiers in 1-3 much tougher as well without modifying the enemies themselves much.

DaS3 has the Demon's Souls approach :
