Is it wrong for me to assume there are such things as critical teamfights? If they have twenty coins and we have none, you have to fight, right? You can't just assume you'll catch up on XP by clearing waves and camps as 5, right?

Any ideias to improve ranked?

Some problems come to the low playerbase, but still, any ideias to make matchmaking better so it can attract competitive players?

I'm trying to think some but its hard, the game design is pretty casual with the whole shared xp and limited build, taking those things away would be too much for the core of the playerbase

Blizz is clearly investing a lot in this game on this upcoming year, and will continue to thrive on forcing the game to the competitive side, while this game can be fun and competitive in a 5v5 cenario, on pugs environment, it just feels like individual skill by itself can't really carry the spotlights ( or victory itself )

I just finished my placement matches and got into Diamond 5, is Plat and Diamond the norm? I feel like I'm really average when it comes to skill.

The games themselves are around 20 minutes, if that's what you mean. Leaver queue tends to have longer queue times than normal queues, though.

the only ones that dont really matter are 4 and 7
I mean sometimes you do just have to fight because you will lose otherwise, the coin thing being an example but if its gotten to that point youve sort of been put into a check mate position long beforehand

Looking to have fun for once after raging at shit like Ao Kuang and Thor with Smite. HotS seems fun and a bit more casual, so even if i'm not too fond of the shared xp and the lack of items i think i'll try it. What do i need to know before playing? I like bruisers who have survivability but still can output damage, which Heroes are like that?

Butcher is a bruiser with good survivability and incredible damage but he is so easily counterable it's hilarious.
He also has the "AFK farm for 20 minutes" experience you lust for.

Thrall (Assassin) and Butcher are sort of bruisers that are listed as Assassins.

Warriors are the "tanks" of HotS, but there's two kinds: Guardians and Bruisers. Though there's no secondary tag for side-roles, they exist.

So for Warriors that are on the Bruiser end of the spectrum:

Artanis
Sonya
Chen
Arthas
and Leoric, although Leoric is moreso an anti-tank in his design, so he's more a Warrior who's meant to be more of a threat to other Warriors, though still decently well against squishies.

Also, Rexxar is kind of a bruiser, but he's also kind of a Specialist, but... also a Warrior. Really depends on the person playing him, honestly.

I kinda like butcher. He seems fun and interesting and can apparently snowball decently. I'm assuming he is a top/solo laner, is that right?

I don't know if i get Thrall's kit though, seems a bit convoluted, how should it work?

I'll be checking those others too and see if anything catches my interest.

Butcher ins't a solo laner at all. Thrall on the other hand, is one of the strongest ones.

There are many differences between this game and other mobas, you are just scratching the surface. This guide is pretty good for other moba players:

Word of advice though, is kinda outdated (mechanics, maps and hero reworks happened) but still helps a lot.

Thrall's fairly simple.
Heal every time your abilities do damage to 5 enemies.
Q is just a point-and-click that bounces, W is a skillshot root, E is a movement steroid, Sunder is currently the only ult that matters and it's just a big dick line stun.
His other ult, Earthquake, is a massive AoE slow but Sunder is just so much better. They are buffing EQ to deal a small amount of damage to enemy heroes which means it'll proc your trait which is pretty nice.

Lunara is a shit! SHIT!

The upcoming hero, Varian, is apparently a pretty good bruiser. I don't know how his self-sustain is though.

Sonya is the textbook definition of what you're looking for however.

We had a match on braxis where I got first pick sylv, then we got I think valla tyrael and lilil. Then the last pick thrall changed to etc, so we had a double tank comp. We lost so hard that game, because tyrael "I like to dive the backline" and genereal incompetence.

I guess my point is if you're sacrificing damage, the people playing need to be competent.

swaps should improve game quality. i'm not a big fan of people maining one character but it's better than having somebody at 40% WR on tank/healer randomly undermining the matchmaker.

solo queue as was said already. don't think many competitive people want to see duos. doesn't matter what the blizzshits say (lie) about fairness stats. appearances are everything.

cooperating and being interdependent on this games level is about as uncasual as it gets. you can obviously just take a lane and eat a sandwich but you won't get a whole lot of love for it.

it's does but people don't get to jerk off to obvious 20/0 stats on a regular basis like they do in other games. mvp gets a lot of hate but things like that make the game more interesting for people that don't get the abstract value of every second in this game.
