I think the background is just the general area they are, they are in fact talking inside the tower. gameplay and story segragation and stuff.

That reminds me, I sent IFI a mail several weeks ago to ask if VII's crash that keep me from starting the final route has been fixed. Still no answer.

Well, I do. Just after CPU Dark Purple III : Electric Boogaloo, the game crashes before asking me to pick between the Heart route and the Hyper route.

I am beyond livid. I am always so livid I sparkle in the light.

Just find someone that has the game, give them your save game, ask them to do the route pick, save at the earliest convenience and done.

PS4 has been crying for it for ages. PC is asking for it too, but nope, neither got it and never will.
It makes getting to 999 way easier since a 999 hit combo gets you +9999% exp (100x)
It also made EXE drives scale much better above level 100 and added new ones.

I actually have a cheat engine template that modifies the necessary code to emulate the patch but it's a huge bitch to set up
