Something is not right... right?
I have three cities, and the entertainment complex is built. The two other city centres are within 6 tiles of my entertainment complex, but I don't get extra amenities for that. But as I understand it, I'm supposed to get that. What's wrong? To make sure, I have even built entertainment complexes in all three cities, but that doesn't help. Well, it did help with one of the cities for some reason (the capital). It's not limited to the capital, is it?
Cameron Robinson
You need a worker made in the modern? era or later.
Carson Diaz
My understanding, which could be very wrong, is that your resource-based amenities will redistribute based on which cities have the fewest amenities. This means that when you make amenity building they increase the amenities for that city, which reshuffles the resource amenities to other cities.
Liam Green
Game looks so much better holy shit
Brayden Murphy
Amenities flow to the city that needs it most first until they're all distributed.
Brayden Morgan
...
Kayden Howard
Yes, the amenities for luxury resources may get distributed elsewhere, but I'm looking at the city details, and I'm seeing that the entertainment amenity is not listed there. Only 1, for my own entertainment complex, but it should be 2, because of the bonus. As I understand it, these won't be distributed to other cities, as they are local. I don't get it.

What the fuck just happened
I was playing civ 6 as Aztecs, Im a fairly new player so its only King for now for me Alone on an entire continent Trying to go for a science victory but it takes so long I have to wage war on Scythia cause she was nearing a religious victory I think my cities were left for her fast forward I declare a colonial war against Russia cause I think he had farmed spies and kept killing my industry district AND wtf when I destroyed his last city, I.. lost? It showed like a destroyed city, as if I was playing as Russia? what the fuck was that, why did I lose?
John Martinez

Nobody have any clues about this? It's really bugging me. I don't know what I'm missing.
Leo Lopez
Do the entertaiment buildings allow specialists? As i recall only the buildings in a district like factory and whatnot spread their bonuses, so i'm guessing it's only the bonus tied to that specific building's specialist, which would be the second one in the case of the factory i'm guessing.
Eli Wright
>be Japan >enter modern era >people on the 2nd tier continent need conquered so they can stop suffering
Finally, GATE the game.
Brayden Barnes
You had already been conquered religiously. Russia was the last holdout. You were depending on them to help you win the game, but instead you went to war over some petty shit.
Julian Myers
>have a couple of horseman/knight/tank corps/armies >and a fucking siege tower from the medieval ages >right click a city once >it's yours >repeat ten trillion times because the AI shits out cities once every 10 seconds >it's deity Is there a civ game where you're rewarded for focusing on a small 4-5 city country and are not encouraged to just conquer everything? I've only played 6 and I like it a lot, but some of the balancing issues are just heartbreaking
Parker Brown
Civ 6 AI has me lolling. What is the best mods for 4 right now?
Landon Brooks
Civ 5 is the game for you (and only you). You aren't necessarily rewarded for being small, so much as you're punished severely for having more than 4-5 cities.
It's like Civ 6 except happiness is global, and the biggest cause of happiness is having people and cities. So if you capture a city, all of your other cities get to such a level of unhappiness that your entire empire comes grinding to a halt.
Adrian Lewis
Fall from Heaven 2 has been the best mod for several years now.

this seems like a pretty atrocious bug
wiped out germany and the city says it has 18 hammer but it takes 6 turns to make a 20 hammer scout? i dont see any notice anywhere of a penalty such as occupied penalty but it seems bugged.
it is only applying to his capital and not to the other 2 cities i took from him.
Ayden Peterson
Skip a turn, see if it stays. Maybe the interface hasn't updated from some shit if you just took it this turn.
Blake Gonzalez
What a weird way to say Saves You From Ahmed Man
Christian Clark
What are you doing playing strategy games if you don't want to commit genocide against the Aztecs?
Ethan Green
I'm pretty sure the cost of that scout is just not updated. No way in hell they cost 20 when a good city, especially a german one, can easily shit out two or three times as much in one turn by the industrial era
David Cox
no ive had the city for two dozen turns and just now noticing its building things far too slow.
Leo Foster
Where does it get 18 production from? Can you count that much in the tiles it works and the districts? Seems like a too high number.
Joseph Ross
same goes for -1 anemety when you should have +2 after a building is completed. Just wait until next turn. Usually the interface doesn't update right away.
Adrian Robinson
Oh really? Thank you for your reply, it has been bugging me a lot. Still in medieval period for now, tho. Currently leading in scientific, but I kinda want to do the domination. I asked earlier about scientific victory tho, do you need uranium in order to do all the technologies, or do the scientific victory somehow?
Noah Perez
>Civ 6 comes out >it's shit >shills still say it's good >"it'll be excellent with patches :)" What happened to "we judge games in their current states and not based on some extrapolation that comes out of our own ass"?
Eli Myers
So, let's just shit all over the thread instead of having actual discussions? Yeah, it's unpolished to say the least and yes, it's gonna be much better with patches and expansions, everyone knows that. It's still enjoyable and there's no reason to freak the fuck out at everyone who does enjoy the game in its current state despite knowing that it's unfinished
Joshua Reed
Anyone aurora 4x here?
Ethan Nelson
Judging a game merely in its current state is like judging Magnus Carlsen as a chess player when he was 7 years old. It's like watching a gifted child clearly with tons of potential, and ignore it thinking he is a shitty chess player because he is yet to become great. It's narrowminded to judge a game without also looking at its potential with patches.
Grayson Rodriguez
>it's gonna be much better Nice opinion. By the way, I was talking about video games journalists. I like how you immediately got triggered when someone dare to dislike a shitty game.

Jaxon Lee
Why should I buy it at release, then? I'm just gonna wait for the GOTY edition. If Firaxis is gonna nickle and dime this as hard as they can, why should I play their game of relasing barebone games and fixing them with expansions? Also, Carlsen didn't me ask for 60 bucks to watch him play when he was shit.
Jack Morris

Why indeed. You aren't forced to. You can pirate it and then buy it when you feel like it's worth the money.
Jeremiah King
Because people on Veeky Forums who totally aren't shills are telling you to buy it because, eventually, one day, it may have 10% chance of being good.
Aaron Parker
Kinetics are the best, both for starting with and in the long run. You should research Plasma weapons later down the line, though. Missiles are decent early on, but once Point Defense appears they're shit. Lasers are meh.
Wormhole is the best, but if you don't wanna deal with vulerable infrastructre, you should pick warp. Hyperdrive is trash right now.
Jackson Foster
when did u stop playing? >realized that the end game is fucking shit and politics did not matter whatsoever. >rushing + turtling up for science was too effective >science was too fast, couldnt even build a unit before it had to be upgraded
Jaxon Davis
When I saw the quotes and realized that even if Firaxis, one day, decides to fix the game, they'll keep the quotes, because their fans are drowning every legitimate complains with endless spam.
Caleb Peterson
Why the fuck do these Stellaris fleets force a fight if they come anywhere near any enemy structure. It's fucking ridiculous that I have to make an emergency jump just to get my fucking warships out of a system because they are shooting at some mining bases that can't even shoot back.
Kayden Johnson
how autistic are you that quotes bother you so much?
Hunter Morales
can't you solve that changing their stance?
Hudson Howard
Because we know for a fact that Firaxis will come out with half a dozen DLC, each of which will on balance be an improvement.
Parker Peterson
I find wormhole annoying because if I want to travel one system over I have to jump somewhere else and back at it
Hunter Davis
Yeah, Stellaris was exactly the same, it was shit.
And guess what? It's still shit. But it's okay to be treated like a cashcow, right ;) I am fond of coal miner's wives.
Caleb Mitchell
Why did they ruin Stellaris with this FE shit. I understand that they wanted to make FE's more interesting, but how the fuck is making them like that "pirate" event on steroids with the difference that basically makes the FE awakening an event that makes most, if not all diplomacy completely redundant, forces you to dismantle or leave your federation, ditch your allies, ditch your vassals, ditch any fucking choice you have in the course of the game while forcing you to disband most of the fleets you have built, because you can't not become a vassal for the FEs. You can't fucking say no to them, because they always awaken way before you are anywhere fucking near the point where you can challenge them and if you say no, you just lose the fucking game. Period.
Fuck. I really had high expectations for the Heinlein patch, but this shit made the end game even shittier.
What the fuck is the point of the diplomacy screen with the FEs anyway if you can't do fucking anything with them? You can insult them and make deals that they will fucking say no to by default.
I'm fucking amazed that anyone at Paradox thought this shit is a good idea.
Evan Cook
Most people play on epic timescale just so they can use their armies before they become obsolete. I don't know how - the game is so tedious that even on standard you can't get through a game in one sitting.
Joseph Richardson
that must be the most boring shit ever I played one civ v game on marathon and it really took its toll on me.
Even with the Boost mechanics of Civ VI, I feel as if it runs out of shit to do and just gets sort of boring after a while.
Adam Long
Next time read the specifics on how victories work, user. Religious victories happen when you convert the majority of cities from every civs.
You were already converted and destroyed the only civ which wasn't fully converted yet.
I only play with religious victories disabled, desu. You can't counter a religious victory if you don't build a religion of your own, and the AI manages to take all prophets before you've even built your holy district.
Zachary Hernandez
>no way to replay this
Ree
Joshua King
i think they did a good job in 6 making units take longer to obsolete. its more about quantity over quality and then eventually you can form them into corps.
Angel Wilson
I was about to stop playing, then I found out about mods. One that improves the AI and another one that tweaks the whole strategic resource thing made the game more challenging and interesting to play.
A little information: Usually, you will see that the AI will have several outdated military units, even when they're on more advanced ages. This happens because they're either unable to find strategic resources, or didn't bothered researching the techs.
One mod allows everyone to build all units without having strategic resources (but gives you a damage boost if you do have the iron to strengthen your swordsmen, for instance). This change already made the game harder and more interesting, as the AI will actually attack you with a strong army.
Couple that with a mod that improves the AI, and another one that reduces warmongering penalties and you have a great game to play.
Jose Peterson
FE's are doomed to fail in Stellaris until they completely redo diplomacy, because as-is diplomacy is worthless. There's zero meaningful interaction between civilizations besides war. The diplomacy functions are way too limited and stilted to get anything done, and the AI is too bumfuck retarded to engage in any kind of negotiation. I wanted to play a peaceful empire and was forced to go to war with my neighbors because the game gave me absolutely no diplomatic recourse for having my demands met. The solution to literally every dispute is go to war.
If you find yourself jumping to or from a location often then build a generator there.
Logan Russell
Yeah, it's really annoying when you have build up good relations with a neighbor and then they do something shitty like instantly vassalize a system you liberated in a war or colonize or build a frontier outpost really close, and basically the only way you can fix or make them fuck off is to completely destroy relations with a war to invade/liberate/destroy.
Oliver Allen
lmaooooo theyre actually gonna sell workshop content as dlc
Easton Wright
>ITT scrub civ V babby that doesn't know how to counter religion even without his own religion >Not annexing every religion capable civand then use your own faith to literally go multiculturalism so there is no dominant religion in your civ ever >All while going for domination and science victory at the same time so no civ can ever bully you late game
Ryder Brown
I just really want a more nuanced diplomacy system and more gradual relationships between civilizations. I find it kinda dumb that after first contact you do a quick research and suddenly you know EVERYTHING about their civilization down to the comparative strengths of your military and technology levels. Would like it that shit was gated based on how much contact you had. Also wish the AI wasn't so fucking hostile by default. It's like the galaxy is populated by paranoids and aren't willing to establish any kind of friendly relations with people. There's no options to just passively exchange information and contacts to boost relations, you literally just sit there and wait for a relationship demodifier to tick down so you can do anything with them. And by "do anything" I mean try and fail to negotiate trade deals that they will refuse and make unreasonable demands for.
Make it so first contact just gives you the empire's name, the dominant race's name and appearance, and maybe their government type and the location of a few worlds close by. Don't reveal their entire genetic makeup, the full extent of their borders, and their national policies. Make the player work for that shit, give diplomatic tools for finding this shit out. Make a leader specifically for interacting with other factions and finding information. A spy, a diplomat, an envoy, something like that.
Nathaniel Miller
>make xenophile individualist materialist humans >meet my 3 neighbours >they all like me because xenophile >by year 22 getting spammed with non aggression pact proposals yea nah, back to purging the galaxy
Hudson Clark
>play as xenophile fanatic materialist charasmatic space waifus >all my neighbors love me >only enter into non-aggression pacts from people I don't wanna attack anyway >liberate my way through the galaxy But I still had more fun on my fanatic xenophobe + star empire run, them borders. And purging and resettling still is faster and less painful than liberating, vassalizing and integrating. The only thing I hate is the silly high ethics divergence, but that's a problem for everyone that doesn't go fanatic indiviualist.
Nicholas Thomas
In Civ VI, is there a point in working duplicate luxury resources? Or should I just build shit on whichever duplicate I have?
Jonathan Walker
You can sell them, you know. Extra 200-500 gold once in a while can't hurt.
Juan Cox
Fall from Heaven 2 Runner up is anyone of the larger modmods for Fall from Heaven 2 like Fall further or Rise from Erubus

>people actually want to play eu4 gross
Dominic Ramirez
How do you deal with it? I tried doing that, conquered like 2 people and then half my planets stopped because they apparently hate purging even though everyone in my empire was xnophobic militant spiritualist
Gabriel Morales
You can't build shit on luxuries or put improvements on them that aren't improving improvements so you might as well improve it or just say h*ck it and ignore it. If it's like forest/hill/truffle or jungle/hill/diamonds it's a good tile to work anyway.
The idea is to have a happy population through Individualism and Direct Democracy, and leaders who start out useful, get even more useful very quickly, and stay at five stars for a long time.
Thoughts?
