People use aggro to climb because of quick matches.

Once you are in the top tier, you tend to be less bothered about that.

Plus, you see less banner sword because people can usually afford a more expensive meta deck by that point.

This is why I never understood the "le going first is overpowered" meme. In Hearthstone the coin was enough to balance it out since you can get a turn 2 minion on the first turn. Hell some classes like tempo mage benefit from coin since you can trigger cards like tony and get a free fireball. Yugioh I understand since thier is a lot of FTK bullshit but then again Yugioh turned to shit after syncro summoning.

Aggro matches are faster, and you can climb at a 33% win rate due to the way score is distributed. The basics of an aggro playstyle are easier to grasp too, and decks are largely cheaper to build. Win cons and control tools are largely core in their decks, but you can replace a lot of cards in aggro decks with similar stats on the same curve if you have to.

Are you implying it's not objectively better to go first in Yugioh and Magic? In Yugioh, the rare and inconsistent FTKs aside, you get to shit out all your traps and summons with no fear of backrow. The only thing the opponent can do is respond with hand traps, which at the time when I used to play were literally only Effect Veiler and Maxx C.

No shit, the thing I was pointing out is that FTKs are almost non-existent because they instantly ban any component that's remotely consistent and that's not the reason why going first is good in YGO at all.

Don't run PtP Forest without Altered Fate. Take them all out and run whatever 3 drops you got laying around. Tam Lin, Dark Elf, whatever.

You really need those Tias and if you are going for purgatory, you need those altered fates.

Bannermemes actually have a better time in late game than other aggro decks because they have Avant to keep a hand relatively filled along with the constant threat of just rushing the enemy down with Storm once you have Banner(s) set up. The latter tactic makes up for not having much/any actual late curve.
