this general is a breeding ground for miscreants who never became relevant themselves, so rather than trying to lift themselves up to mediocrity, tries to bring everybody down to their level. a putrid, fetid, steaming collection of nobodies who hit their peak around high school and struggle to now reach the already unbelievably low bar they set for themselves.

I feel powerful because I post on /srg/.

All I have to do in a stream chat is mention I'm an /srg/ regular, and instantly, like a flick of the switch, people stop and pay attention to my words. From that point on, I become known as a dark, dangerous poster with an untold amount of cyber-weaponry at my disposal. People fear me, and I take full advantage of that fact.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't known across twitch as an ambassador of /srg/. Sometimes the pressure to uphold my reputation feels too great. But then I relax. I take deep breaths. And I remember how people freeze when I enter their stream chats. I remember how they grant me moderator privileges based on my name alone. I remember how they cower in fear, knowing that if they were to make one mistake, one misstep, there would be hell to pay.

And all is good in the world once more. My power restored.

i absolutely LOVE seeing random shitters using the op to promote themselves and pretend that they're somewhat relevant

Cheese is the greatest RTA speedrunner of all time.

let's see him run something that breaches 20 FPS

twitter.com/Bounceyboyy/status/798739757836763136

Why does Zewing think the FPS is relevant to how difficult the games are? It takes more time and effort to get a top time in 120 star and OOT 100% than it does to get a good time in literally every other speedgame.

Getting a 1:45 in SM64 is harder than getting WR is in almost every other game.

This one is obviously a joke.

No, it's the truth. People who don't think SM64 is the hardest speedgame to optimize clearly know fuck all about the game.

Regardless of how hard you suck the balls of SM64, being good at it doesn't mean you are a better speedrunner than someone who is top of another speedgame. That is absolute nuthugging logic.

BounceyBald is just another ignorant speedrunner who only pays attention to Mario and Zelda.

There are stream monsters who claim to enjoy speedrunning but have only ever watch OoT and SM64.

>being good at it doesn't mean you are a better speedrunner than someone who is top of another speedgame
Yes it does.
It's true that he only pays attention to Mario and Zelda, but he's correct about Cheese being the best speedrunner of all time. I've been involved with hundreds of speedgames and their communities. SM64 is by and large the most difficult to optimize and has the most dedicated runners.

Cheese has invested more time into doing offline practice than he has streaming or recording runs. This isn't a game where you can just spam attempts to become a top runner like Super Metroid. Top SM64 runners objectively put more effort into their game than anyone else.

He is only the best at SM64. If he was the best at every other game out there, then the statement would be true. You are also clearly not a speedrunner, as you would know how bullshit it is to claim someone is a better runner than someone despite them not even playing the same fucking game.

>You are also clearly not a speedrunner
Actually, I am.
>you would know how bullshit it is to claim someone is a better runner than someone despite them not even playing the same fucking game.
No, it's a fact that games have varying skill ceilings, and that the top runners of games with high skill ceilings are better speedrunners than the top runners of games with low skill ceilings.

You'd be a fucking moron to argue than Darbian is a better speedrunner than Zoast, for example.

>You'd be a fucking moron to argue than Darbian is a better speedrunner than Zoast
you dont know either of these people and youd be better off keeping their names out of your mouth

I don't need to know them to understand that Super Metroid is vastly more difficult to optimize than Super Mario Bros.

What do you run cockboy?

F-Zero GX, Spyro the Dragon, A Link to the Past, Half-Life, and Banjo Kazooie.

I've dabbled in numerous other games as well.

whether that is true or not, don't talk about people you dont know. SM being harder or easier than SMB1 doesnt make Zoast a better speedrunner than Darbian. this reductive conclusion is the same attitude that youre giving shit to bounceyboy for tweeting about, and it makes you sound like a retard

>don't talk about people you dont know.
Why? People have been talking about people they don't know since the dawn of time. If you think you've never done it, you're lying.
>SM being harder or easier than SMB1 doesnt make Zoast a better speedrunner than Darbian.
Yes it does.
>this reductive conclusion is the same attitude that youre giving shit to bounceyboy for tweeting about, and it makes you sound like a retard
But I agree with bounceyboy's tweet. Cheese05 is the best speedrunner alive.

if this isnt an elaborate prank to try to be the most retarded serg user (which let me tell you, that is a feat by itself), i cant help you.

>tfw serg is more retarded when talking about speedruns
can we get back to trannies

You are decinitely shit at every single one and have no idea what you're talking about.

jodenstone = judenstein

What games do you run? Which ones are you good at?

How is that an argument?

>You are decinitely shit at every single one
I didn't claim that I was a great speedrunner, but I'm definitely not "shit."
>have no idea what you're talking about.
Sure I do. I don't even like SM64. I can say without any sort of bias that it is the most difficult speedgame to optimize.

I feel like most people who think it isn't are too insecure to admit that a game they don't enjoy is the hardest speedgame to be good at.

shut up cuck

>a game which runs at 20FPS is even remotely difficult to optimise
lol?

It's 30fps. Not that that's relevant in any way.

No. The maximum framerate possible in gameplay is 30 but the majority of the game is sub 30 and usually around 20. This is only relevant because fanboys of the run like to claim it requires "x frame perfect inputs" and the lower the framerate the easier small frame windows are to achieve.

how is "yes it does" an argument? you did not contribute to the conversation.

since when is framerate a measure of challenge. honestly, thank you for talking about speedrunning for a change, but this is retarded beyond measure

>usually around 20
You don't just get to make things up, you know.
>fanboys of the run like to claim it requires "x frame perfect inputs"
It does require a huge number of frame perfect inputs to achieve optimal movement, but that's not even close to being the largest contributing factor to its difficulty.

>how is "yes it does" an argument? you did not contribute to the conversation.
"Yes it does" was in response to a claim that was equally unsubstantiated.

>decinitely

what is the best speedgame to be good at that you can put on a resume

medievil

transitioning

okay, your claim is literally "a game being harder makes the runner a better runner" as if to suggest there is literally one factor that goes into making someone a good speedrunner. how about variety of games run, skill level at games of different type, or even if every other game ceased to exist, just difference between a run and the theoretically perfect run? if are claiming "SM > SMB1, so every SM runner > SMB1 runner" and there is nothing i can do to reason with you

This debate is retarded anyway as runners aren't even the most important people in running a game anyway. The people who find strats, skips, tricks and routes are far more valuable than the cretin who chimps out an "optimised" time.

grind monkey

The Milky Medievil

>there is literally one factor that goes into making someone a good speedrunner.
There pretty much is only one factor that goes into making someone a good speedrunner. Despite giving off the appearance of a skillset variety, every speedgame is learned and improved upon in a near identical way. If you become good at speedrunning one game, you can use the same methodology you used for that game to become good at speedrunning another game of a similar difficulty.

if nobody used all of those to achieve the perfect non-TAS times then it would all be pointless and no one would do it

You mean "being good at video games". You can't be "good at speedrunning".

joden's movement is so smooth and optimal. no wonder he shits on skater.

>You can't be "good at speedrunning".
Of course you can.

That's like saying you can be good at music, but can't specialize in Jazz.

No he means having the freetime to practice enough. That is literally all one needs to be good. No job, social lifeor family or other hobbies only enough time to practice enough, anyone can be good given enough time and this adoration of NEET losers needs to end.

You can specialise in speedrunning, but you can't "be good at it". The requirement for being "good at speedrunning" is being good at video games

>No he means having the freetime to practice enough. That is literally all one needs to be good.
If this were true, Biinny would be the best SM64 speedrunner, and MrSpeedrun would have a 1:45 by now.

Crooked Hillary? More like Crooked Nose.

why is the japanese speedrunning community so retarded and terrible

>You can specialise in speedrunning, but you can't "be good at it".
>You can be good at something, but you can't be good at it.

The set of skills that "being good at speedrunning" takes is the same as being good at video games

What are you talking about? Japanese gamers are the best in the world.

*uses 3rd party controller turbo functionality*
*ends timing after unskippable scenes and credits*
*bans glitches which make the run faster*
*allow arbitrary glitches*
*includes skippable cutescenes in TAS*

Nobody disagreed with that. To return to my earlier analogy, the set of skills that "being good at jazz" takes is the same as being good at music.

...

Not really. Jazz is specialised. Speedrunning = video games

Everyone who is good at jazz musicianship is good at musicianship, but not everyone who is good at music is good at playing jazz.

I don't know how this can be made more clear.

>"Jazz is specialized"
>"You can specialise in speedrunning"

Now you're contradicting yourself.

You've exposed yourself. Exposed!

Jazz = music.

...

Even if it was the most difficult game to optimize, that doesn't mean the record holder is the greatest speedrunner of all time. The ignorance is too immense.

- Guy who doesn't speedrun because he lacks the skill and dedication so he sits on an anime image board pretending he is above actual runners by spouting bullshit

But it does. Who do you think is gonna have a harder time, zoast optimizing his movement on a run that uses the d pad and two buttons, or darbian on a run that uses the d pad and 6 buttons? And that's just the start.

you can't even find your dick under your gargantuan pot belly sm h lad
