They have a 15% passive damage resistance, recover stamina faster than any other race, and have pretty decent combo strings.
Also they make people super fucking mad with their mere presence alone and that is more than enough reason to play as one.

A few reasons.
For one you have more experience playing Virtua Fighter. For two you're not playing Xenoverse 2 when you play Xenoverse 2. You're playing "I have experience with fighting games so I must automatically be good at this."
Xenoverse 2 is a fantasy fighter. It has mechanics that are exclusive to it that you must learn. Without a solid foundation it's going to be difficult for you, and frustrating if you fail to see it as its own thing rather than just another fighting game.
