There is a lot of padding to do in that fight, so those numbers sound right.
by killing it before double scrapline and having buffs. Maybe they let him AoE the adds by himself, but I don't think you need to in order to do that much damage, you can look at the parse and see. Just needs to be a really fast kill with a good party comp

BLM is the highest DPS when they're allowed to be a turret. Anything with a large amount of movement cripples them pretty hard.
You shouldn't trust the highest BLM parses anyway. It's very easy to give yourself something similar to Haste through cheat engine and BLM is pretty much the only class that does not suffer from giving themselves ridiculous amounts of speed. It's very, very well known that there are quite a few BLMs who cheat to get their high parses.

That's a bit disheartening because I'm always really impressed when I get a good blm who knows how to position themselves so they barely need to move so they can pump out dps. i actually had no idea a lot of blms cheat

Pretty much, yeah. It's extremely easy to feed BLM as an AST because both Balance and Arrow are great buffs for them. With two ASTs there's no reason not to have 99.5-100% card uptime when you're feeding a BLM. Perma Foe amplifies it pretty hard.

i like fflogs to try and gauge where I stand with other players but catered parses make that kinda hard to do. what's a more realistic parse for a blm on that fight?
if you click on the parse in the rankings it'll bring up a very detailed overview of the fight, down to exactly what gcd they use when.
It caught on for a bit a while ago and I think everyone's a bit over it by now I just keep this one handy just in case

Midlanders can't be that huge.
2.9k is a very good parse. I would say that anything 2.7k+ would be a good parse for a BLM.
Don't use it like a leaderboard, instead use it to gauge yourself and see how you can improve week to week!
