I really hate to say it, but that youtube channel "Engineering Explained" is probably a good place to start for simple hand holding and spoon feeding.
It really isn't hard though. What is hard is all the different variables, like timing, combustion chamber size, cam duration, and all the little shit like that.

Here's a little autistic fun fact that will make you feel smarter than all the normies around you.

Bore x Pi / 4 x Bore x Stroke x Number of Cylinders = cubic displacement.

So take a mustang 5.0
3.63 x 0.785 x 3.63 x 3.65 x 8 = 302.04
The cubic inch displacement of a Mustang 5.0 is 302.

Wait though, there are 61.02 cubic inches. So take 302 and divide it by 61 that's 4.95.

The mustang coyote is not a true 5.0.

I know that shitbox. I own one.

I love mine, it's never let me down once either and it seems like it'll just last forever. What don't you like about it? I think it's fun enough to drive for being a gutless shitbox. The S trim is also pretty comfy and looks pretty decent, good enough for me at least. My car before this one was a 1995 and I loved that one too.

It's a gutless shitbox that started rattling everywhere ever since the warranty ran out. Interior is cheap. I know odo is a timebomb that stops at 299999 miles. It has a throttle response of a sloth. Tire squeals when I turn a corner at 5 miles in a grocery store parking lot.

But I still have much respect for it--don't get me wrong. It's definitely not a bad car.

At least people are posting more than their bus passes.

My 1995 started rattling horribly eventually, this one luckily hasn't really started yet. Do you have a base trim or something because my interior seems way better than most of the brand new Ferd shitboxes all my friends are driving and I don't have random trim pieces breaking and falling off like they do.

Actually now that you mention the rattling, mine is starting to make lots of little squeaky noises when I hit bumps at low speed. I'm thinking I need to replace some kind of bushings or some suspension part.
