What AC game should I start with? There's a great infographic (which I would post here if I had it, someone give me a link) but most players recommend Armored Core 2 or 3 for old style games, and Armored Core For Answer or Verdict Day for multiplayer.

What do you think would be a good logo for a NEXT called Silvercloud?

I'm playing 4A on ps3 and I feel like all my weapons are useless. What problem is there that back mounted chainguns can't solve?
Christian Bennett
Multiple NEXTs. Not so much that the chainguns can't solve them, but rather you're not going to race them hard enough and ammo will be a concern. I can't remember if the Vega is in the shop or an unlock, but it should be right up your alley when you get it.
David Ortiz
What's a decent all-rounder build? I've found that fighting the earlier/smaller AF's with guns is stupid, because you can skate around with laser blades, but should I keep a blade on for utility? Is there a back mounted blade?
Oliver Evans
Your question should be: What problem do chainguns solve that can't be solved better by liberal application of two Rayleonard machineguns?
Easton Brooks
>I've found that fighting the earlier/smaller AF's with guns is stupid
Die, will ya? I swear, bladeshitters...
Evan Martinez
Is that the hit man?
What's wrong with applying 10000 damage to an AF and killing it in 3 swings? If you boost in fast enough, you take negligible damage.
Joshua Gonzalez
There is nothing wrong with that. It's by far the quickest way. Blades in FA are hated in online though, since the netcode combined with the fact that they home on people makes bladers teleport everywhere. Arguably they also make AF fights trivial. You will hate yourself in at least 2 AF missions if all you have are blades though.
And there is two Rayleonard machine guns, HITMAN and MOTORCOBRA. Both work. If you can keep them on something it will die in very short order and a NEXT will get shredded as soon as the PA is gone. Also they have tons of ammo.
Ethan Rodriguez
Welcome to the game. Grenades and machine guns make everything else useless because FA's balance is trash.
Owen Reyes
I heard npcs yelling about tearing down primal armor, but there's no shields right? I just take straight damage to my AP.
Gabriel Fisher
The series usual. Rifle/machine gun, blade, missile, cannon. Make one of either the rifle/machine gun or the cannon solid and the other energy. He's not wrong, though. Rockets still a best at AFs. The PA is your shield. It's absorbing some of the damage you would otherwise take. In the case of solid rounds, it soaks up a lot of their damage.
Angel Morris
>rifle/machine gun, blade, missile, cannon Let's see: BECRUX DRAGONSLAYER BIGSIOUX The big BFF sniper cannon

What are some good naming conventions for NEXTs?
Easton Wilson
...
Josiah Butler
PA is like regenerating armor.
PA rectification: AP (regenerates) PA durability: Defense
If your PA durability is high enough, you won't take any damage from some hits (or like, 1 damage). If your PA rectification is high, you can take a lot of hits before your PA drops.
No PA means you don't get the damage reduction, so you take roughly 2x damage.
Luis Thomas
I usually keep to this theme, songs/band names for bipeds and dinosaur/animal names for RJs and quads. Lately I've been naming them after the 72 dukes of hell since IBO has been airing.
Oliver Jones
[color] [adjective] [noun] [proper noun]
Types of nouns to use: >Plants, Animals, Space, Nature related >Weapons/Tools >Characters from classic books/movies/plays >Characters from mythology >Famous people from history
Pick 2 (or just proper noun) but keep the order. >Blue Magnolia >White Glint
Bonus points if: >Proper noun is an obscure reference to an obscure artist or character >Operator's name matches the reference >Next color matches the color >Next weapons matches the proper noun

>teleport everywhere You can read it though, there's angle warping, drift turning, and groundlocking. Almost all warping is a combination of those things. Granted it's easier to do in 4A than in 4, but warping is a skill just like second staging.
Cooper Sullivan
>Think of an edgelord name like 'Darkness' >Google translate synonyms of 'Darkness' in Latin >'Lack of Light' translates to 'Non in Lucem' >Name my NEXT 'Nonin Lucem' >Profit
Just think of a word you like and find a dead language to translate it into.
Thomas Lewis

I once named an AC after another ship from a completely different franchise. I called it "Flutter Flare". Had a matching paint job and emblem.

I'm designing three NEXTs for myself.
sticky not on desktop reads:
Design a CQC frame "Lucille" LATONA / AALIYAH / EKHAZAR?
Design a Lancel frame "Lucie" SUNSHINE / HOGIRE / LANCEL?
Design a Quad Frame "Lulu"

Variations of a name.

I'm about 95% certain that Legends isn't what you were going for with that. Also, you should consider Googling that name. >Latona >Sunshine Maybe you should call them Luser

Friendly reminder that no "laser" weapon in Armored Core was ever a laser
It's all been a magnetically contained plasma field shaped around a bolt.
FA shows this with the Canopus, sharing the plasma shot effect for the most part.
and why would lasers have ammo if they weren't limited for gas or bolts? generators are infinite it seems.
Eli Thompson
Only exception may be laser blades or the continuous beams featured by some bosses.
But then you have the issue of being able to see the beam without anything reflecting the light.
Christian Cox

Joshua Russell
Oh, but I was going for that.

Core AMS could be considered true lasers (instant firing beams), but they do no damage, so it's more likely they mess with missile guidance or heat.
Laser Blades seem more like waves of plasma than true lasers.

This is my idea on how each guild would build their forces
>Golgari Army of Junks UNACs
>Selesnya Army of Normal UNACs
>Boros Various squads of Standard ACs
>Simic A bunch of ackwards builds and experimental metas
>Gruul the blader/piles club
>Izzet A lot of missiles and laser weapons
>Orzhov Heavys ACs with shields and rifles
>Rakdos Lightweights with grenade cannons, bazookas and rockets, with the idea of using them as close as possible, splash damage be damned
>Dimir ECM, flash rockets and blades
>Azorious From middle to heavyweights, with weapons that either stagger, create a lot of heat and ECM

But what about a game like LR, where this time you can choose withing 10 factions and you start gateless, or just go and destroy everthing.
>Some M:tG crap. That's the short version. The slightly less short version is that it's a world that is entirely city. Ten guilds "work together" to make daily life possible. Agitator has too many differences from Thinker.
