This is when elemental, blast, and status comes into play, You're going to want armors that compliment bow skills and special coatings. Got a good sleep bow? Status up Bomb boost. Bam. Dead monster.

Even without bomb boost, lbb+ and sleep coatings makes things more manageable. Though I always didnct bother with poison or para since I played solo because it was my only option. Sure, poison fucks up Gravios and Kushy, or at least I still hope they do, but I always got by with just power, c.range, and sleep coatings.

Overall, I value element > status > raw for bows.
Is the dragonwood bow in 4u? That was my absolute favorite for Tigrex killing in FU.

I'm playing solo lately, trying some TAs by myself. I've been blacklisted by someone I don't even recall hunting with and other people haven't been posting rooms, so that dampened my interest in looking for multiplayer hunts too.

requires a lot of management to even come close to DPS of other weapons while having anus crit distance with all the risk of blademaster range but having gunner defense. Expect to suck dick without dash juice.

Steve Bow is best bow in 4U for power shot, great raw after honing, and power coating. Even then you need dash juice, and even then you'll be doing sub-relic damage by a factor, and then you'll run out of coatings and be sucking dongs.
It is ironic that the one of the better weapons in 3U and Gen are bows with busted mechanics when the rest of the entire weapontype is sub-garbage to every other weapon.

Bow needs to be entirely redesigned cause it does nothing better than an LBG can do without needing dash juice too. Otherwise it's a noobtrap. Anything less than the best broken bow in these games usually means you'll be doing an eighth of the entire monster's health with 3 other hunters using anything but a bow, making the fight longer than necessary.

bow is literally LBG but worse damage, worse status proccing, and no "reloading". If it didn't drain stamina to use it, it would literally be gunner's first weapon cause of how little management it would need otherwise.

If all they did was just remove the stamina drain on charging or make it 75% slower draining, it'd immediately become a better weapon and the true stepping stone into gunner that it's suppose to be. Without that though, you're doing shit damage at shit range dealing shit status ailment and using the fuck out of all your stamina so you can't dodge when it counts - or you're wasting a dash juice that'd be better used on a DB or SA set.

all you do is mash X. you don't charge. You get all the blast in and stunlock the monster to hell and back for great clear times. The majority of damage comes from blast proccing.

Any good element bow, since element goes a long fucking way with bows like DS and SnS.
Kelbi bow is shit in 4u, and pretty bad in 3u when not spamming lvl 1s against Alatreon.
Sergios bow is pure physical, and boring as shit.

ofcourse the kelbi bow is shit in 4U. It was one of the best weapons in 3U though. It's useful against every monster, not just Alatreon you nigger.
There were no broken bows in 4U which is why Steve was the best, and then steve was the best by far. Relic bows were generally awful too thanks to the tables of what coatings paired with which attack/element you could even get. There might be one or two tiers of relic bows that are better than steve (same goes for bowguns) whereas there were probably at least 6 kinds of relic weapons for the other weapon types that were better than craftable. Even then though, the best craftable LBGs and HBGs were still ahead of Steve bow.

Irregardless of whichever game you're talking about, Bow is usually the weakest DPS weapon and saved only by a broken OP bow if the game has one. Bad DPS, stamina management that doesn't correlate with expected damage unlike lance or hammer or dual blades, takes a gorillion status shots to inflict status which could be done in fewer shots from a bowgun, awful range so you're right in the monster's face with gunner defense begging to get knocked hard - and to top it all off it's got the wacky cartoony design philosophy of shooting a handful of arrows at once for most of the available bows, or switching between shot types per bow per level charge.
