My advice would be to do whatever you want (cliche, I know) but the REAL advice would be to never ever EVER base your decisions on whatever Veeky Forums says it's doing. Seriously ever.
I'd go as far as to tell you to avoid Veeky Forums guilds but that's going to be up to you anyhow.
If you went with "your heart" and whatever Veeky Forums hordeside guild went nowhere, you'd have a fuckton of other options as far as guilds.
Very very generally, if you're focused on playing with Veeky Forums no matter what, keep in mind that regardless of what these faggots will post in these threads, the vast majority of them go alliance every vanilla server, period. Whether that's for meme reasons like waifufaggotry or ironic/unironic ERP, or literally to crutch on fearward and paladins - that's up for debate. But it's what will end up happening. Again, no matter what faggots here will say.

Namefagging proliferated because people always asked for matches and many kept their NNID in the name field while posting. A Discord popped up and it got more and more use especially by the most prolific personalities namely Chazo (the general's "ringleader"). Then there were Discord wars between two opposing groups. Eventually people either joined one of the two discords or moved on to other forums for discussion/matches.

To the new people, don't even bother to join a guild until you hit lvl 60 and at that point you should be able to tell if the Veeky Forums guild on your faction is alive or dead and you can just join a good guild instead

Nost should introduce things that Blizzard should have introduced.

For instance, Ogres on the Horde, High Elves on the alliance. No Horde Paladin, no Alliance Shaman.

And introduce the PROPER race/class combinations.

So you want an additional race that's essentially just a different model? You can use a model viewer, they aren't bannable.

The vanilla core is complete arse for scripting (I think people are still using the repurposed TBC core). Wotlk has a lot of potential for custon content tho.

Even if you copied Blood Elf racials for the High Elves, they'd be on Alliance, and we have no idea what an Ogre would be like on Horde.

It litearlly does not even take a lawyer to write up a cease and desist, very few servers actually cave and shut down. The only servers ever shut down directly by Blizzard have been either US hosted where they can easily sue, or that one server that charged their players money to play so blizzard was even able to sue for a pretty fucking high ammount on that.

There would be room for additional content once a "blizzlike" vanilla server has cleared naxx and completed it's patch cycle, but like others have said, that isn't the point of Nost. For better or worse it's trying to re-create as close as possible the "vanilla experience", or as close as you can get using 1.12 shit.
That doesn't mean added stuff is a bad idea necessarily, and maybe down the line it could be a thing. A long way down the line, of course.
I think we'd have official legacy before a private server managed to do something like that and make it not suck anyhow. For immediate shit like that, there are various funservers. I know at least one uses ogres for example, or did.

The nost frogs were banking on the idea of blizzard hiring them so hard that they used the C&D as an excuse to close down. I would have bought and subbed for Legion if they introduced Ogres. It's too bad they never did, the best time for it would have probably have been WoD but no one cares what I think.
I'm not certain how the timelines and lore work now, but I always thought the Ogri'la stuff would have worked as a great way to introduce player ogres, revamped as a starter zone and stuff.
Oh well. I just like ogres, man.

All the way back in The Burning Crusade they were going to add Ogres to Horde and Pandaren to Alliance. They even showed the original Pandaren model at a blizzcon in the past.
