Ford model T

Now that the dust has settled, what does Veeky Forums think of the Ford Model T?

>Best car of our generation?

This will make horses useless.

>M-muh transport will be boring.
>it has to compete with steam
Get over it.

Veeky Forums's opinion on a car it will never see irl much Lee's drive and couldn't afford in the first place?

Sounds about right.

>Also it's no Miata

Auto carriages will never work, they need too much infrastructure. It will take more than 80 years for them to become commonplace.

Oh yes, there's the fancy city people going around in their motorized carriages on their smooth paved roads like they're the kings of the world while the working man is out in the field dragging carts through the mud with the power of his own body because these sophisticated chariots can't even go down a dirt road without breaking an axle or cable or something.

>no radio
absolute shit

>complains that a state of the art vacuum tube radio isn't fitted in a affordable ecobox.

If a man goes faster than 16 miler per house, the air is sucked from his lungs.

Where the hell would you live that it's 16 miles between houses?

So if he goes 15 miles per house, he dies?

no you are thinking of the model a
model t is good off road

even that is way to fast

>Restricted to 9 feet in width.

Almost the size of an American vehicle.

>2.9 litre 4 seater convertible
>same weight as an original lotus elan
did everyone else just stop trying?

Model T's are cheap as fuck because they made a gazillion of them.

Imagine the SJW's they had to deal with back in those days. They lowered speed limits by 60% overnight, wtf?

their lowest retail while still being manufactured was 300$
inflation adjusted is bout 5000$ today

It would be incredible if they could still sell cars for that money. Even if they were just base, base bare minimum models.

The Gubbermint did away with that though.

Cars will never be this cheap again.

In the mid-to-late 20s you could get a new Model T for the equivalent of like $3000 today.

lol fucking poorfags

>Cars will never be this cheap again.

Nor will they be such unreliable and spectacularly dangerous deathtraps. Cars back then were quite delicate and needed constant maintenance.

The T was anything but unreliable.

The T isn't delicate, faggot. That's meme-tier steel plus they're designed for offroad use and they can even run on pure ethanol. The T is the very definition of reliability.

Reliable for back then, but reliability standards have changed.

They do take serious amounts of maintenance for regular driving today. Ignition, oil (I think only half is filtered),finding tires, filters for everything, and good luck getting parts. Older model ford forums and (some) nos parts are pretty much all you're gonna find. Finding someone who has worked on them who you can ask questions of is a chore. It can be done, and with fun, but much work. After all that, they still weren't designed for the long (relatively) service intervals of today.

Pic semi related, going through this right now, is a bitch, everything needs to be rebuilt on something this old unless you get really lucky or pay a bunch of money.
