What are your picks?

Cars on my list so far:
N54 BMW 135i
N54 BMW 335i
Nissan 370z

gixxer K5

ls f-body + supercharger and suspension.

you're welcome.

Just buy a fucking 5.0 already.

No cheby, No older than 8 years

Hopefully its not too difficult to find more than 3 car models.

Yes cheby.

My shitty LT1 goes 0-60 in 5 seconds and you can buy one of those for like 3k lol

OP just wants to waste money imo ford and chevy are the go to for cheap speed

...

2jz is350

I put that parameter out of curiosity. Seriously considering a 2011 5.0

who gives a shit about age? a good car is a good car.

The 335i is better than the 135i. Weight is around the same and the 3 series is a more livable size. If you want to tune, pick up a 335is. They got a better cooling system and some other mods I can't remember.

As a IPL G coupe owner, you're gonna have a hard time getting extra power out of the VQ without boosting. Fantastic cars, even better than the bmw's in some ways, but maybe not the best choice if you want to tune.

Just a longevity thing, plan on keeping car for 2-3 years. The older things are the more likely to break due to wear.

guess what genius, cars are infinitely rebuildable. anything that breaks can be fixed.

Yeah the 335is has bmw performance exhaust and other things in it as well. Out of budget though, might as well just FBO a 335i.

And for that price a good ol' 5.0 in the 2011+ still beats it for much cheaper. idk I may be warming up to ford's crowd plowing machine.

A low cost to own would be better in my situation, I don't own a garage and don't want mechanics jewing me out of thousands for a simple job.

And of course it all can be DIY with the internet as a resource but again this is going to be my only car for a year or two and would prefer it to just work without having to sit somewhere for a days or getting an engine rebuild or something.

...

335i all the way.

It's a nice car, practical, civilized when you want it to be, and pretty aggressive when you punch it. It's surprisingly quick with just a few tweaks and the m-performance exhaust sounds great.

>wants low cost to own
>considering an unreliable 335i
shut up and buy a civic for 3k.

If you want to make lots of noise and smoke but go nowhere quickly. Perfect reimagination of the muscle car when you think about it, they're the body builders of cars.

>N54 won multiple engine of year awards.
>Have a friend that works exclusively on BMW's
>HPFP and Wastegate under Extended Warrenty

It's not that bad desu.

Get a 2010 mustang or a Pontiac GTO

Everyone suggesting Musturds and Catfish shows how intelligent the average buyer of those cars are

Was also looking at GTOs. That 6.0 is so tempting, and its an ls so if anything breaks there is likely an cheap and easy fix.

4 cyl

no.

the vent on the hood makes it go fast

Literally shut your fucking mouth and stop trying to give advice about cars you don't know shit about.

There is a noticeable weight difference. If you wanted an actual advantage to the 335 besides "livable size" that would be wheel and tire fitment as the 135i often has issues putting down power due to not having as much space for wide wheels. Furthermore it requires a ton of work to run any decent square tire setup (that is, to run even a 255 all around).

Furthermore, all of the upgrades the 335is has over a base 335i are handily outperformed in the aftermarket and for less money than the premium an is would fetch. That is a tune, a slightly upgraded clutch, and a body kit.

>4.8-5.1second 0-60 mph
>0.89 g's
>comfy interior
>can be supercharged to make 600+ hp
>gets called shit

Did you get btfo'd at a stoplight once again in your V6 mustang by an R/T again?

20k will also get you into an e46 M3

>implying BMW doesn't try to weasel out of warranty repairs as hard as possible

Get an old-ass 7 series.

Mazda RX-8

It's a difference of about 200lbs. They're on the same platform, though the 135 has a shorter wheelbase. Thanks for agreeing that the 335i is a better choice though.

Also, the is got and upgraded cooling system with a better rad and 2 heat exchangers with holes in the front bumper designed for airflow. Also got the clutch like you said and stiffer engine mounts and an exhaust. I'd love to know how you plan on getting all those parts and install for less than the couple grand premium the is commands.

>inb4 you post a cheap as hell pre 2010 335i. the is was only 2010+ and isn't much more than a 335i.

20k would get you a high mileage e63 or c63 amg. Tell me that's not fast.

i dusted one with my gs400, and my car dead heats with 3rd gen tls, so my car is slow as shit.

This.

>N54 BMW 335i
This. 135i chassis is ugly looking, has shit for space. 335i has enough space for a young guy, looks infinitely better, and with jb4 is just as fast as the M3.

370z has absolutely no room either.
