What engine would Veeky Forums put in a 944?
What engine would Veeky Forums put in a 944?
bmw s85
Coyote Aluminator XS
Peak power at 7500RPM, stable up to 8400RPm
On a budget?
Ls1, its been done enough times that you can probably find a write up.
13B Turbo. Low COG + good rearward weight distribution by virtue of the rear mounted transaxle should equal fun. Tunable up to more than enough power.
Expert mode: viable in yurop. (don't worry about taxes and insurance, just availability, aftermarket and price)
V10 is incredibly hard to beat in terms of appeal.
Big V8, always fun.
True, easily available swap kits and everyone's done it so it's really well documented.
This would be interesting, especially since the FC and 944 existed around the same time and were pretty evenly matched. Rotary smoothness is also a lovely thing.
DB605
LS
I'd rather do a standalone and turbo the 2.5L that's already in there.
If I were forced to swap, probably a 4G63 or some cool V6 that you don't usually see in a RWD configuration, like the Ford SHO engine.
Turboing the stock I4 is fair enough, it does sound nice.
And that SHO V6 would be cool, I quite like those because >Yamaha.
SR20DET
There are better cars for this engine where it simply bolts in.
In my Yurop, people usually use Toyota 1JZ-GTE for performance swaps.
1.9tdi

Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. 8)
20b
968 3.0L
Would it be possible to put an aircooled porsche 6 in? That would be pretty cool in a 944.
F20c, because glorius 9000 rpm
A turbocharged 1st gen Renesis.
For that maximum reliability.
f20c
If I'm not mistaken you would have to make the engine spin the other way around.
might be to wide
>most logical bang for buck
ls
>most interesting purity
vr6
>most bizarre
a diesel from a vw or audi.
Someone's done it.
This one
Something that won't overtax the driveshaft.
R26B from the mazda 787b, wich actualy used a porsche transmission.
You mean the torque tube?
Yes. I'm using Veeky Forums language.
It's a great car, but the engine speed "driveshaft" thing limits power options.
>evenly matched
The FC ran circles around the 944
3S-GE BEAMS Blacktop
Actually, 1/2JZ-GTE VVTi would probably be best
Interesting option. I like it.
My mind was blown when I first realized they wrapped the exhaust manifold under the engine and put the turbo on the opposite side. Seems like a pretty good flowing design though.
put that in a 924
probably a 1jz vvti
well, this thread ended quickly
in all honesty
a supercharged gm series 3 3800 out of a 08 grand prix gtp. plenty of torque, better on gas than an LS. all the engine the 944 needs and nothing more
