My Dualshock 2 died so I'm buying a new controller.
Should I go with a D4 or an XBONE one?

Just use kb/m for shmups,

Should add if you do want a controller though the XBOX controller has a horrible d-pad, but other than that is very comfy more so than the DS4, though the DS4 is also pretty comfy. Just depends on what controller you like.

Alright so I finished BLUE REVOLVER© easy and here's my valuable opinion.

Difficulty is a bit off - easy has the same bullet density of normal but with autobomb, and the autobomb sucks because you waste your whole slot of bombs. So there's no reason to play easy.

Also the 2nd girl is by far the superior choice, if you don't play with her you're gimping yourself.

The lack of powerups is a bit boring and the graphics are pretty bad. The announcer voice is cute tho.

Fucking this. And even then, if you're not using Val's Arc special, you're *still* gimping yourself. Literally every other ship/weapon configuration in this game is completely worthless compared to it.

It's not that it's a bad game. It's actually really good, IMO. It's just that having all these different ship/weapon combos, with one that's objectively the best, is kinda dumb. Whoever swung the balance stick missed the special weapon choices.

it took me a long time to understand how to score in mushihimesama for example
the mecha guy boss has patterns similar to youmu, so you have a cave-like shmup with a boss using touhou-like patterns

How do i get good at shmups? Just practice more?

Ok lads i get it now, my score didn't register on mushi 1.5 because i entered just play mode and not score attack. No biggie i'm barely getting my balls damp with this anyway despite already having a fucking6th place score (god damn the west sucks)

Desire to improve and conscious practice using methods of repetition, researching better player runs and building a plan. The most important of all though is never make excuses.

Yes but don't just grind a game mindlessly. Think about what kills you and how you can prevent it next time. If an attack is giving you trouble look at it carefully and pay attention to how it works and if there's anything you can do to make it easier for yourself. If a part of a level is giving you trouble try different strategies.

yeah fair point, just getting into the top ten in such a short period of time (maybe 30 hrs inc warez time) is kind of sad in a board with 500 entries.

I had the same problem for a long-ass time and it just disappeared one day.

How long? When i started play shmups seriously (5 months ago), i really enjoy then. But now shmupping is like hateful work.

If you're kraut cunt you get a pass for predictability if not don't become him.

Take a break and play something else. The frustration's likely the result of you being too hung up on wanting to beat the game or get a score. Can kinda improve it by trying to appreciate even small improvements in your performance, and practicing in a relaxed way instead of doing real runs.

13 straddles the line between mediocre and bad, 14 is good but not great, and 15 is absolute trash. You may want to try 14 but otherwise I'd say you're not missing out on much.
