man the translation really doesn't work with the scene, Ryuji's not supposed to sound that much of a quirky kid there. He's talking normally, even the "this effin rocks" part isn't very fitting, it's just like a "This is amazing!" thing.

I think they don't know how better to convey that he's a rebellious guy with a chip on his shoulder. Everyone is casual in English, so you can't just go "Oh he uses Ore as his pronoun and ends sentences with sus and doesn't use honorifics with adults so he's a rebel" and call it a day.
