I don't think Mordecai being bad is a problem that ails Shadowverse specifically. He wouldn't be good in Magic or Hearthstone either. He's just not a potent card. Lord of the Flies and Odin are dangerous in comparison because they have immediate board impact, they can either keep you alive or help you close out a game.

Well yeah, if it goes unanswered then of course it'll win the game, but that applies to any large creature.

The point of Mordecai is that it is almost impossible to answer him. Most large creatures can be traded into or hit with Dance of Death.

Mordecai was a staple of midrange shadow when that deck was strong pre-DE, even with DShift and PTP around. There's nothing bad about Mord, it's just that the current meta sped up after the expansion.
